Show I 1 ill I 1 I 1 scouts participate in overnight outing a drizzling snow and rain fall fail to halt activities of scouts and shouters in spite of almost continuous snow show and rain the overnight hike for scouts of the roosevelt district to the winter playground on farn creek dountain noun tain saturday and sunday was judged an outstanding activity by dr L D pfouts ol oi payson director of camping of the utah national parks council six troops including ballard neola neol loka ioka myton whiterocks ano ana roosevelt with boys participated in the outing camp was set up saturday morning during a wet snowful under the direction of grant gram fredrickson senior patrol leader of the roosevelt troop and fir fin for the big bi campfire camp firc was started by don marsing with flint anci ana steel when the camp was fully established and in working order scouts of various patrols presented a program and community singing was led by arthur the remainder of the afternoon was then devoted to winter sports and dr pfouts instructed ted the boys in the art of skiing and sleigh riding court of honor sunday was ushered in by a flag raising ceremony religious services were conducted which were followed by a court of honor and 30 scouts received advancements and honor awards the court was conducted by bartley heiner einer II scout commissioner of the roosevelt district and dr pfouts M E lundberg chairman chair nan of the roosevelt district council and B 0 colton roosevelt stake president also took part and assisted in the awards among which was a star scout pin presented to elmo colton 4 following the he court of honor hono scout broons gave demonstrations of some of the work done by bv them and dr pfouts exhibited and demonstrated the making of inexpensive camp equipment including ciudin 9 cooking utensils and pack racks durin his talk lie he commented on the great profir made in scouting in this district since his visit out here several years ago camp broken camp was broken in the earia afternoon and scouts returned to their homes delighted with their trip and their contacts with dr pfouts a true outdoor man scoutmasters Scout masters taking part in the outing were ere reed lemon kenneth allred glen P moss arthur merrill C croft charles carter thomas R todd paul apson blaine jones and J M wilde who together with member c of the district council were well pleased with the results of the overnight hike the advancements being made by scouts in the district and the cooperation of all troops |
