Show ft duchesne women s club plans to establish uintah basin museum plans for museum luscum to be located Locate tl in exhibit building at fort du chesno now Un underlay demay museum to depict early uintah basin history and indian lore at a recent meeting of the fort duchesne club plans were outlined and a prospectus for a uintah basin museum to he bo located at fort duchesne was drawn up permission has already been granted club members by C C wright superintendent of 0 the agency to house the museum in the exhibit building at fort duchesne and projects are now underway to raise the necessary funds tor for display cases etc A large card party is planned for thursday evening april ath to be held in the chapter room at fort duchesne to which the gan in cral public is invited the fun funds ds of which will go toward the museum the women of fort duchesne believe a museum in this section has great possibilities and though it is necessary to begin on a small scale they have very extensive plans in mind the ne museum will contain objects brought into the basin by the early pioneers objects made and used here in the early days thus portraying the history of the basin since the coming of the whites exhibits of indian relics culture and lore are also planned which should prove very interesting and highly enlightening to visitors of the museum the walls of the museum are to be hung with maps outlining the routes taken by the first white men to enter eastern utah including father escalante william henry ashley robidoux kit carsonett carson etc asig the pori fort duchesne club asks the cooperation of every organization and individual in the uintah basin in establishing the museum and collecting objects of interest for display all objects will be kept under lock and key carefully catalogued cataloguer catalo gued and a card bearing the name of the donner will be placed in the exhibit case with the object thus all artmes articles wl will 11 receive great care and there will be little danger of their being lost alost or stolen anyone desiring to exhibit relics or who knows of the whereabouts of interesting articles should contact mrs martin curtis mrs james andrews or mrs C C av wright wight all of fort duchesne phe hie club will also appreciate the loan of objects which will receive the best of care while on display at ft duchesne and will be returned to the owner whenever lie wishes already numerous promises for historic relics have been received and much enthusiasm shown by people over the entire basin where the project has been made known when highway 40 is completed a marker telling of the museum well be placed where the fort duchesne Duch osne road turns off and it is believed that the museum will ivill stimulate much tourist interest |
