Show Davis Group Will Assist Santa Glaus In His Job FARMINGTON -- "As the Thanksgiving holiday concludes, con-cludes, people's thoughts turn to Christmas and the spirit of giving," comments RoseLyn Dechart in announcing the Department De-partment of Human Services (CAP) Sponsors for Santa program. ACCORDING to Mrs. De-chart, De-chart, the financial pressures of the last few years have helped many people to develop empathy for the less fortunate, prompting them to sacrifice themselves for the good of others. Consequently, the department de-partment expects the 1982 Christmas season to show an increase, not only in the number num-ber of families requesting help; but also in the number of families, fami-lies, individuals, and organizations organiza-tions applying to sponsor a needy family. Families with children 12 years of age and under needing assistance may apply at the Department of Human Services, Room 223, Davis County Courthouse. Those wishing to sponsor a family may phone the department at 451-3355. SPONSORS are needed up to Dec. 24, but the program operates more effectively if they also apply early, Mrs. De-chart De-chart says. "Some of our most enthusiastic enthu-siastic sponsors in the past have been school groups and community organizations," she adds. "Frequently, their enthusiasm generates such an overwhelming response from members that they are able to provide Christmas for several families." RESIDENTS knowing of someone needing help may make applications for that family providing they are not on the program themselves. Sponsors for Santa fills a two-fold purpose in the community: com-munity: to register those needing need-ing assistance and locate and assign this assistance and to know who is asking for help and prevent duplication of assistance, unless so desired. APPLICATIONS will be received re-ceived 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday through Dec. 13 except Dec. 2-3 w hen none will be accepted. |
