Show Davis Withdraws Rezoning Bid On Garbage Site LAYTON -- Davis County Commission made a surprise move last Thursday when they decided to withdraw a petition to have a site in Layton re-zoned re-zoned for future development of a garbage resource recovery plant. A LETTER from Commissioner Commis-sioner Ernest Eberhard stated simply that the county had decided de-cided to withdraw its petition request to have a site south of Utah Highway 193 rezoned to allow construction of the garbage-burning facility. Wilbur Jefferies, executive secretary of Wasatch Front Regional Council, explained that several meetings were held with construction, bonding bond-ing and financing consultants for two days prior to the decision deci-sion to withdraw. "THEY WERE all here for the public hearing but after hours of negotiations it was determined de-termined there was nothing new to report and decided to cancel the meeting," he said. "The only way to cancel the meeting was to withdraw the petition so that's what we decided de-cided to do." grb |
