Show congressman colton asks for warehouse in the uintah basin washington nov 18 utah recently made its first appeal tor for aid to the federal farm board through Represent atre colton at the request of the various farm organizations of the uintah basin mr colton inquired of the board about the prospects til of securing a loan to aid the uintah farmers in building a warehouse tor for the storage of their the ir farm carm and ranch products notably wool meats and fruits federal farm board members swid they strongly incline to ald aid farmers or farm farin associations in the building of warehouses as they concede that in this way the farmers will be materially aided in holding their crops craps or other products for a favorable market Al members embers of 0 the board horev however er explained to mr air colton that the board has not undertaken the making of loans to limited farm groups for or to do so wold necessitate the building up of a tremendous cwi office force in washington to handle all details in the matter of warehouse aid the board is ia now engaged in setting up special corporations for the nationwide wi de handling of special commodities on november 20 it expects to set up a wool corporation to handle all advances made by the board for the he benefit of wool growers just as it has set se up a grain corporation and will set up others each to handle one commodity the board is trying to encourage the building of warehouses through loans made to these varl various oits corporations and is no not averse to allowing such warehouses financed in the interest of a single commodity to rent space for the storage of other commodities the loan would be made to the industry having the greatest need for warehousing if wool is the chiet chief commodity which the uintah farmers have to store a loan could be obtained from the wool corporation after 20 board members suggested to mr air colton that ahat he lay before the united unite fat fatin farm in organizations organization a the situation as it was explained to him and in the event wool Is to be stored in greater quantity than any other product to suggest to them that they apply to the wool corporation for assistance A warehouse hullt built with such a loan the board said could be so constructed ted ws as to handle all kinds of farm products in the uintah basin representative colton was much impressed with elih the character of the men who constitute the federal farm board and after his interview he came away convinced t that hat t they ey are handling a big problem in a practical and sensible manner |
