Show Bountiful Recreation Softball Saturday league turning into a five-team chase -Kti v 1 r'- - , i , . . tif i i Dave Wlgham Clipper Sports BOUNTIFUL International Beauty School ' downed the previously undefeated Blackburn team last Saturday to pull even with them in the league 3' standings in the Bountiful City League at 400 North. j BOTH TEAMS now stand atop the league with 5-1 records, they have now played each other twice with both sides recording wins. Gandy Janitorial is right behind the leaders with a 4-1 mark which ties them with Sunset Sports number one team who also sport a 4-2 record. Then comes another two way tie between Baseline Appraisal and Gramoll Construction who both have 2-4 records with Lee and Hammond tied with Sunset Sports No. 22 at 1-5. KEEP IN mind, like all other city leagues, these teams are fighting for one of the top four spots at the conclusion of their league play and a berth in the annual city tournament in August. The top four teams from each of the city leagues will play in that event. International Beauty School is a local side run by Rob Italisano, who also works at the recreation center. cen-ter. Other players on the side include Roger Davis, t whojust finished playing baseball for Viewmont this past year; Bill Sheldon, Jerry Morrow, Ron Lloyd, Steve Pearce, Scott Olson, Jeff Stettler, Tim McGill, Tom Romney and Greg Ballard. In their win over Blackburn last week they displayed both power and solid hitting to go along with a fine defense. BLACKBURN AND Jensen is basically a Layton based team which features a lot of brother combinations. combina-tions. Among their players are Mike and Celia Blackburn; Black-burn; Scott, Steve, Russ, Richard, Randy and Doug Layton. They too showed power and a good defense last week. The Gandy team also has their share of brother acts with a couple of their own. Both Mark and John Hunter, both ex-Bountiful High players, are on the side along with the Keddington clan which has Grant, Gary Dale, Lynn, Alan and Blair. Other players play-ers are Darryl and Kim Gandy along with their father Ruppert; Darrell McKinnon, Kay Christensen, Layne Brown and Allan Trump. SUNSET SPORTS sponsors a couple of teams in this league and their number one team, from the local store, is right in contention for the title. Local players play-ers on that club include Mike Conner, Scott Allred, Mike Roberts, Bryan Hardy, Mike Van, Rick Red-ford, Red-ford, Pete Clark and Dave Hawkes. They have a young team with players like Kirk Miller, Steve Bearnson, Jay McCann, Bruce Talbot, Lex Brown, Mike Partridge and Todd Smith all of whom just graduated or have one more year at Bountiful High. Other members of the team include David Jackman, Terry Bettridge, Brent McNamara, Roger Bott, Paul Bladd, Doug Wehrli, Rick Jones and Matt Huff. GRAMOLL Construction is another relatively young side which features ex-Bountiful High players. play-ers. People like Blaine, Chris and Brad Davies, Scott Irwin and Scott Pendleton are all standouts on this side. Others include Dave Ellis, Kurt Gramoll. Jim Gramoll, Matt Gregory, Dan Ferraro, Reed Hawkes, Benny Martin and Steve Martin. The Sunset Sports team No. 22, is basically a Salt Lake City based team while Lee and Hammond are becoming a solid club with the addition of Neil Wors-ley Wors-ley and Kent Pitts. Unfortunately no roster was available for the team. |
