Show ti ancas association HOLD FIRST MEETING it last friday evening a representative body of citizens and teachers met is in the amusement hall ball and reorganized the parent teacher association cia tion A short interesting talk on school conditions was given by principal elroy boberg of the D II 11 sin reorganizing the association J P may was nominated for president but declined the honor mrs airs harlen glues gines was next proposed aed was nominated by acclamation over her protest an executive committee was chosen as follows leo D young W al vernon and mrs hazel ashton principal bo berg was chosen vice president ard aed R S jordan secretary A committee that had made an inspection of the schools reported their findings it was stated that there was a shortage of 0 books which hampered the children in their studies and that some of 0 the stoves were unsafe but could be made safe with a small expenditure of 0 lator and morey the lambert building where two grades with over one hundred children are housed came in tor for scathing in condemnation the building was declared to be a fire trap arld unsafe in other ways the rooms are reached by an outside staircase the main pimps pi aps ops of 0 which are cracked where they have been been struck by mail trucks in case ot of fire this staircase which is the only exit Is inadequate and itself is a serious menace the root roof 0 of the building Is leaky and the ceiling joists foists apparently patently ly rotten both ceiling and floor sag and appear to be too weak to carry their load the condition was considered so serious as to de mared immediate action many of the parents stated that they would not allow their children to return to school until a remedy had been found in order that the children should not lose any time it was decided to cor co duct these grades in the amusement hall until the board of education has had time to make other arrangements |
