| Show THRONGS ATTEND LAST RITES FOR NOTED CITIZEN LOSS BY THE DEATH OP OF ALBIN BIRCH FORMER fonnier oili OF ROOSEVELT WILL BE FELT FOR MANY MANTY A DAY all of Roosevel ts busl business ness houses and schools closed in honor of albin birch former mayor and counce councilman iman and mrs atton afton teacher of 0 central school whose funerals occurred thursday the entire community and many people from surrounding towns were in attendance at the funeral service ot of albin birch who died on monday evening march 30 at his hia home ot of cancer held at the assembly hall at 11 and crowded to more than capacity officers and members ot of the W 0 W ot of vernal camp from vernal and the I 1 0 0 F ot of myton lod lodge lode e and which the deceased was a member were present in full regalia and acted as honorary and active pall bearers marching marchine at the head of 0 the long funeral procession the 1 I 0 0 F ritual burial service was used at the grave side the service at the hall was in charge of 0 rev M M fryer pastor ot of the trinity episcopal church and was very impressive music was furnished by a choir composed of 0 mrs D P whitmore mrs M AL fryer mrs peterson mr and mrs W M vernon and bruce calder who rendered the following abide with me sometime somewhere beautiful isle of somewhere and lead kindly light rev mr fryer attorney ray E dillman Dill nian and paul S hanson were the speakers who told ot of the many virtues ot of their friends and neighbor and ot of his exemplary life of his civic pride in the town for which he had given so freely ot of his life and which he had bad served as mayor and councilman also of 0 his activities in all civic movements tor for the betterment ot of town basin and state they spoke eloquently ot of the hope in the life to come and gave words ot of consol consolation atlon to the bereaved widow and surviving children the floral offerings were profuse and banked the casket and speakers stand mute tributes to our beloved and highly respected citizen interment was made in the roosevelt city cemetery the loss to roosevelt in the death of mr birch will be felt tor for many aday a day thoroughly progressive he was prominent in most every move to better or develop the community yet so conservative that his name was never connected with anything i that would not stand the most sear searching ehing investigation his most recent activity was to promote the building of the new theatre to provide roosevelt with a modern place of amusement for many years he was one ot of our progressive merch or of would rather stand a loss than to make the other fellow lose not many of his closest associates knew of the pain he suffered guttered during his long siege of illness which did not confine him to his home until the last only recently he be returned from salt lake city where he be took treatment and was apparently in better spirits spirl ts thai usual upon his return he had given up the active management ot of his personal business affairs albin birch was born in aarm land sweden dec 23 1869 ile he came to america in 1869 and landed at new york city with his bride a miss olga habersat he was a trained mechanic and loved to have things in order about him I 1 his health began falling failing him and in 1903 athey moved to denver to a more eno genial climate and came to the reservation in 1906 and home steadied near roosevelt he became interested in the growth of the new city of 0 the reservation and was one of the active spokes in Roosevel ts development besides his bis widow he be is survived by axel A A 24 alice 14 and elmer H 9 all in roosevelt |
