Show News Notes from all parts of 41 UTAH how utah voted for president coolidge Coolid go davis la follette for governor I 1 mabey dern for justice of supreme court weber for secretary of state crockett funk for attorney general cluff robinson 11 for state auditor holden larson for state treasurer walker ririe for superintendent of public instruction jensen woodward Wp odward for congress first district colton ollon francis for congress second district leatherwood waters totals from outside salt lake coun ty and from districts out of in salt lake county george IL H dern will be the next governor of utah outside of the gubernatorial ernat orial contest the republican state and con congressional tickets have been elected the county ticket in salt lake county appears equally safe mabey visits dern governor mabey visited mr derti den in his office in the newhouse building and personally extended condral ions on the victory and promise him whatever assistance and support he might require both in preparing to assume and after assuming the duties of executive of the state ile he tendered him the use of the machinery of the governors office for obtaining whatever information he ha might require the governor and his successor elect discussed the campaign and congratulated each other that it had been free from personalities and had been fought out on the bissu s subsequently goic governor nor mabey mabe made public a brief sti lenient outlining his attitude 1 I accept the verdict of the electorate he said with equanimity the people have spoke their choice and I 1 shall exert my full influence to make the next administration a complete success my hecey congratulations go forth to mr dern aern I 1 pledge my unqualified support to him in his new duties as chief executive also I 1 acknowledge my profound gratitude for the support I 1 received at the polls and thank my friends who gave me their ote and their assistance in connection with my candidacy furthermore I 1 wish to commend the many party workers who worked unceasingly to elect the republican ticket later in the evening mr dern issued a statement reading 1 I am keenly sensible of the distinction to which my fellow citizens have raised me by electing me governor of my state 1 I want to thank the members ot of the democratic party who have given me their united and unstinted support throughout the campaign my sincere thanks also go to the progressives Progress ives who first favored me ma with their unsolicited endorsement arid and then supported me as if I 1 had been their own nominee 1 I should he be blind to the facts if I 1 did not see that thousands of republicans public ans vacit faor me I 1 am grateful to them for their confidence and good will 1 I am also very sorry that the remainder lina inder of our state ticket was not elected I 1 stated in every cery speech I 1 made that I 1 considered it the strongest ticket that has ever been nominated by a poli ical party in utah and 1 I feel that it is unfortunate that all these good men inen were not elected because they were ati all exceptionally bep qualified to serve the state my own ambition is to further khz th development and up building of thil state elate ot of utah lind the welfare of its people after all we should lecog nize that party lines do not mean nuch much I 1 in I 1 n our state pro problems emo these ese important import nt subjects do not depend up on political labels but rather upon 2 patriotic desire to make utah the best state in the union I 1 solicit the support and assistance of all citizens to this end moab T R littlefield of ogden a surveyor connected with the district forest office assisted by supervisor olson of the lasal national forest deputy supervisor I 1 quigley and rangers meador and hunt is establishing a definite b boundary line between private lands and the forest demair from rock creek north of polar mesa on the north division of the lasa lasal forest the work will be completed ir in two weeks barring inclement weather |
