Show PORTION OF THE KAIBAB FOREST TO BE OPENED TO HUNTING OGDEN utah dec 2 the state game warden of 0 arizona has announced that the west side of the kaibab forest will mill be thrown open to deer hunting december 1 to january 5 A tee fee of per head will be charged tor for each deer according to district forester R H rutledge of the intermountain district the state officials of arizona have opposed the shooting otil OD the kaibab forest up until this time owing to the misunderstanding ot of the exact conditions and tearing that it would tend to interfere with the drive which is to be undertaken by george mccormick in an attempt to herd several thousand deer from the overstocked over stocked ranges to the opposite side of the colorado river the area upon which shooting Is to be allowed lies twenty miles alies or more to the west of the area upon which tho the drive is to be organized and is separated from that area by a high plateau now covered with snow the deer on the killing area are in poor flesh the bucks weighing icily booy about pounds the edge of the shooting area may be reached from ryan on the edge ot of the kaibab forest which in turn Is accessible and is reached by an automobile to road from kanab utah it Is ia therefore possible to go by car directly to the killing hilling grounds persons should not go upon the forest guns without first securing written permission |
