Show Davis Students Win Honors FARMINGTON - Students from throughout the Davis School District showed not only an appreciation, but academic excellence, as demonstrated by results of the recent Northern Utah Regional History Fair held at Weber State College. SENIOR DIVISION project winners included: 1 st place, Heidi Olsen, Millcreek Jr. High, teacher, Amy Wilkinson; 2nd, Susan Klemm, South Davis Junior High, teacher Leslie Foy ; 3rd, Sunset Junior High School students Carol Overdiek, Willy Orchard, Curtis Price, Sandra Yamma-moto Yamma-moto and Adriene Hammel, teacher, Renee Warner. Elementary division project victors were: 1st place, Lance Rigby, Jared Whitaker and Bryan Tilt, Knowlton Elementary, teacher, Gail Bock; 1st place, Brett Boyce, Melisa Sherwood, Matthew Shifflet and Angela Demele, also Mrs. Bock's class. ECONOMIC projects winners were: senior division, 1st place to Erin Trenbeath, South Davis Junior, teacher Leslie Les-lie Foy; elementary division, 1st place, Jeremy Archibald, Jason Daniels, Miriam Rees and Jennifer Haler, Knowlton Elementary, teacher Gail Bock. Historical research papers, senior division winner was Kendall Lyman, Millcreek Junior, teacher Amy Wilkinson, Wilkin-son, taking 2nd place. IN THE JUNIOR division, 1st place was taken by Juli Lyn Barber, Cook Elementary School, teacher James Richards, while 2nd place went to Lauri Ann Barber, same school and teacher. Economic history research papers, senior division, saw 1st place taken by Kevin Watson, with 2nd place going to Connie Brown, both Millcreek Junior students of Amy Wilkinson. IN THE performances, senior division, South Davis' Leslie Foy's students clinched all three places. Marlene Zakovich took 1st, Stacie Smith, 2nd and Richelle Ryck-aert Ryck-aert and Tina Burrows, shared third. Elementary performances saw four of Knowlton's Gail Bock's students share 1st pake; Kim Van Shaar, Julie Jensen, Justin Hitt and Robby Stewart. IN THE multi-media division, senior division multimedia, multi-media, 2nd place went to Jennifer Twede, one of Leslie Foy's South Davis students. Junior division multi-media honors for 1st place went to' South Davis' Mindy Smith, with teacher Garrick Bowen. IN THE elementary multi-media division, Gail Bock's Knowlton students Kami King, Lynette Thatcher, Mary Bean and Aimee Lee Hess took 1st place. The economic history multi-media senior division awards for 1st place went to Jason Adams and Derick Siddoway. both Leslie Foy's students at South Davis. . THESE WINNERS were chosen from more than 600 entries working to the theme. "The Family and Community Commun-ity in History." State winners may attend National History His-tory Day in Washington. D.C. in June, a newsletter says. |
