Show IJ arter FROM THE PRESIDENT the success ss of the selective service system has been largely due to the reliance that has been placed on the cooperation of all citizens in its execution in the registration the election officers of the several states were called upon upon to perform a cefic task and they performed li it unanimously and lat terly I 1 have had occasion to call the lawyers and the physicians of the country to specific duties and they have responded in a solid rank the time lies has now come when the teachers ot of the country can perform a very necessary task and I 1 have no doubt that they will respond orld in the same manner the process of dt classi classification of all men within the ille field of selection is proceed proceeding tig rapidly ly it becomes necessary to carry forward with tilla process the making of a vary very 1 complete index which shall accurately locate any specially qualified fled man among tho ten milli millions on our enrollment r roll rolI ment lists the local boards aro arc so overburdened over burdened with the woi 1 it ol oi classification that this task be put upon them and yet the necessities of the nation require that it be performed with the greatest possible dispatch and accuracy this duty can be performed best by the teachers of the various communities under authority conferred upon TOO me by the selective service law I 1 there tore call upon all teachers to pro pre sent themselves to the local boards having jurisdiction over the areas r a in which they reside for the tha burp purpose of examining the questionnaires and filling out the index cards in accordance with more specific instructions to be issued by the provost Al marshal arshal general WOODROW WILSON |
