president of the high school board of education requested all members of the high school board the citizens committee and faculty to come on the stage and then announced that the high school pupils and audience would sing america after which rev T 13 mcclement led in invocation the high school orchestra was then called upon for a selection president pope then talked on the subject of the board in relation to the high school 11 ile he gave the history of the duchesne ch esne high school from I 1 its foundation and among other things said it was his ambition to make Due duchesne besne high school second to none in the state his talk was very very interesting and brought to light many of the finer points as to how Due duchesne besne county got her first high school building the high school quartets then ren rendered dereda a beautifully full selection after which ed F harmston Han clerk of the high school board gave a brief sketch of the high school building he told of every little detail of added expense and wound up by saying that the high school building as it now stands has cost the taxpayers of duchesne county the sum of statistics are usually dry reading but in this thia case it was very verr essential to the ta taxpayers ayers of duchesne county authrey were all anxious to know how their money had been spent A violin adolin solo was then rendered by joe pearce which was very sweet and soul stirring As an encore he played oh my father which brought down the house with applause president smart then asked the people to unite for a greater duchesne county to bury the hatchet and all work for the good of this great inland empire he then led in a dedicatory prayer which seemed to touch the audience president pope then made a few remarks calling attention to devoted to fanning cattle and sheep raising the school would be well adapted to pay a great deal of attention to farming and animal husbandry oh genieve was then rendered by the male high school quartette the principal of our high school J F hoyt talked a few minutes on the growth of the high school his talk was very interesting and he related the history of the high school and its progress in america for the past years A vocal solo by mrs frizzell was one of the ille best musical selections of the evening and was well received by the large audience present relation of the grade school to the high school was the theme discussed by superintendent J A washburn he timed his talk to one minute but the audience could have listened to him for quite a spell longer for he is a ve very ry interesting te talker and ge gets tz right down to brass tacks in part he sai said d that the boys and girls are for the high school and not the school for the boys and girls we have a high school district larger in area than the states of delaware and rhode island combined and lets all work together and make it a high school second to none in the whole country the high school pupils then sang
