Show Ethel Beebe Sustains Injury In Car Accident Mrs. Melwood Wall broke her wrist in two places and threw her shoulder out of place in a car accident ac-cident Dec. 17. The accident happened hap-pened 12 miles south of Duchesne on .the Indian Canyon road. Mr .and Mrs. Wall and two children, chil-dren, Emily and John, were taking Mrs. Wall's sister, Mrs. Allie Brown and two children to her home in Loa, when the car started sliding on the slick road. Before Mr. Wall got control of the car it was near the edge of the embankment, em-bankment, which gave way, sending send-ing the car and occupants 75 ft. down the band, turning over 3 or 4 times. The car was demolished. demolish-ed. Except for scratches and bruises none of the other occupants were hurt. WARD RELIEF SOCIETY , JOINS IN PARTY The Altonah ward Relief Society Literature meeting and Christmas party was held at the home of Mable Maxfield Des. 18. Norma Jessen, class leader, gave the lesson. les-son. The afternoon was spent quilting. Gifts were exchanged and candy and nuts were served to 2 visitors and 11 members. A special work meeting will be held January 2nd at the home of Mrs. LaRue Fisher at 1 p.m. Everyone is urged to come. Milton Anderson and son Wil-ford Wil-ford moved into the John Ping place in the Clay Basin area Dec 14. Mr. and Mrs. Ty Kolb and family fami-ly of Salt Lake City spent the weekend in Altonah. , A CORRECTION This correspondent would like to make a correction on an item in my news of Dec. 13 in connection with the funds from the musical program in the ward hall Dec. 3 It read: "All proceeds will go to help the ward build a new church house in Altonah." The correction: "the place has not yet been decided decid-ed on, just where the new church house is to be built." Mr. and Mrs. Ben Gomm, Wm. Evans of Mt. Emmons and Mrs. Reva Redden of Upalco, stake Sunday school officers, were Sunday Sun-day School vsitors here Dec. 16. Mr. and Mrs. George Carroll, made a shopping trip to Salt Lake and Ogden Dec. 17. Mr. and Mrs. Delar Maxfield and son of Salt Lake spent from Tuesday to Thursday of last week with Dellar's mother, Mrs. Lin-ford Lin-ford Maxfield and family. Mrs. Melwood Wall and family went to Duchesne during the week to be with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Taylor. Mr. Taylor is quite ill. Milton Anderson made a trip to Powder Wash, Colo., Dec. 19th to visit Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Young and family. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Bowden and son Willard were business visitors in Vernal and Bonanza on Dec. 19. Other recent Vernal visitors visit-ors were Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Beebe. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Dump accompanied ac-companied by Mr. and Mrs. Her-shel Her-shel Iorg of Altamont attended the basketball game between Utah and Oklahoma A & M at the U of U Dec. 14. Duane, who is a student at the U of U returned home with them to spend the hodi-days. hodi-days. Pvt. Perry Maxfield arrived home Dec. 19 to spend the Christmas holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Maxfield. Perry is stationed at Camp Lewis, Wash., and will return to his base Dec. 30. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Young and girls of Powder Wash, Colo, spent Thursday and Friday with Milton Anderson. Moon Lake Stake MIA Leadership Leader-ship meeting was held at the Mt. Emmons ward hall Wednesday, Dec. 19. Those attending from Altonah were Mr. and Mrs. Lester Maxfield and Mrs. Margaret Reay. Paul Hislop, Bob Reay and Larry Maxfield went to Price Thursday night to play basketball. Forest Supervisor, Gilbert Doll of Vernal was transacting business at the Altonah Ranger station Dec. 19. Steve Dunsmore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Dunsmore was taken to the Roosevelt hospital Dec. 18 with bronchial pneumonia. He was able to come home Thursday. Richard Olsen of Neola was in Altonah Dec. 21, vaccinating, testing and branding cattle for bangs. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Dump of Rapid City, South Dakota arrived ar-rived Saturday, to spend the holidays holi-days with Mr. and Mrs. Leon Dump. Other visitors at the Leon Dump home over the week end were Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Goodrich. Good-rich. Mr .and Mrs. Albert Snyder and a friend of Provo were Sunday visitors at the home of Albert's mothers, Mrs. Elva Snyder. Ted Snyder of Salt Lake also arrived Friday night to spend the Christmas Christ-mas with his mother. Ralph Allred made a trip to Salt Lake last Thursday for medical medi-cal care. ATTEND PARTY Those from Altonah attending Stake Union meeting and a Christmas Christ-mas party sponsored by the stake officers Sunday afternoon, Dec. 16 were Bishop and Mrs. J. Arthur and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Maxfield, Mr. and Mrs. Clenty Ames, Mrs. Mable Maxfield and Coralie, Mrs. Ethel Beebe, Mrs. Margaret Reay, Mrs. Verna Allred, Mrs. Jeane Lambert, Mrs. Norma Jessen, and Bonnie Ann Ames. The Altonah chorus sang "Holy Night." TWO WARDS HAVE JOINT CHRISTMAS PARTY The Altonah MIA gave a Christmas Christ-mas party Dec.t 18, with the Mt. Emmons MIA as guest visitors. The theme was "Spirit of Christmas." Christ-mas." Mrs. Jeane Lambert was the reader; Ralph Allred was the Father. All the Mutual took part. Doris Allred, Bonnie Ann Ames and Coralie Maxfield each sang a solo and Claude Murray gave a scripture reading. After the program pro-gram .they practiced dancing for the Gold and Green ball. Candy and pop corn balls were served. Altonah ward had a Christmas party Dec. 21. The Primary put on a play, "Thoughts For Christmas," Christ-mas," under the direction of Naday Muray. Norma Jessen and Bonnie Ann Ames, After which the children chil-dren danced and were visited by Santa Claus and were given a bag of candy and nuts. The Sunday schol gave a Christmas Christ-mas program in Sunday School Sunday. Among some of the out of town people spending Christmas in Altonah with relatives were Mr. and Mrs. Rex Clark and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Clark and family of Salt Lake with Mrs. Vendetta Clark; Alta Ames, Salt Lake, with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clenty Ames; Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Allred of Salt Lake with Mr. and Mrs. Dm Allred; Rex Fowler, who is employed in Vernal, Ver-nal, with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse A . Fowler;. Kenneth Ralphs, a student at a vocational school in Salt Lake City, with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dennie Ralphs. |
