Show 1 U Of U Preparing Handbook For Local Justices The University of Utah College of Law is preparing a handbook for Utah's justices of the peace to help the justices better execute the law. The pamphlet will be a quick guide for legal provisions which fall under the jurisdiction of jus- i tices of the peace. The provisions will be those which are scattered I throughout the Utah Code An-j notated and specifically refer to courts of justices of the peace. The Utah Code is generally too bulky and complex for use by newly elected justices or those without formal law education. Funds for research and publication publi-cation of the booklet have been provided by the central research committee of the university. The idea of publishing a handbook hand-book was advanced by Utah Supreme Su-preme Court Justice . J. Allen Crocket after participating in a I traveling "school" for the justices jus-tices last fall. The research will not only cover cov-er all laws necessary to procedures proced-ures in respect to justices of the peace, but will also include a survey of current practices in courts of justices of the peace. All research is being conducted under the supervision of the University Uni-versity of Utah law faculty. |
