Show Recorded Activities Of Duchesne Co. Commissioners For August As Reported From Minutes Of Meeting Excerpts Taken From August Minutes of County Commissioners' Com-missioners' Meeting A review of the minutes of the Duchesne County Commissioners' meeting from August reveal's that Chairman Floyd Lamb stated the city of Myton had requested Frank Adams be appoined precinct justice jus-tice of the peace. This recommendation recommen-dation was approved. It was stipulated stip-ulated that Mr. Adams mast post a $1,000 bond and take an oath of office to qualify. cMc The commissioners have voted to screen all beer license applications applica-tions before approval is given for licensing a person or concern to sell beer at retail in Duchesne County, outside the limits of incorporated in-corporated cities and towns. cCc J. N. Jacobs, stockman from Lehi, Lloyd Stevens, Dave Thomas Thom-as and Harry Sprouse, of the Utah State Fish and Game Commission, requested Duchesne County to assist as-sist in building a short road in Avintaquin Canyon. Two routes were discussed. Mr. Stevens reported re-ported that the Fish and Game would 20 50-50 ud to $1,000 on either route. He also said the Fish and Game would furnish material for two cattle guards if the county coun-ty would put them in. Mr. Jacobs suggested that a time be set and all concerned go over the project pro-ject before taking any action. This was agreed upon. cMc It was ordered to district the exhibits fund this year as follows: fol-lows: $200 to U-B.I.C, $200 to the Altamont Livestock Show, $900 to the Duchesne County Fair, and leave some in the fund for the State Fair, the amount to be determined according to need. cMc The request of Jess Hullinger, for fire-fighting tools was granted and the clerk was ordered to issue is-sue a purchase order for same. cMc It was decided to pay $1.25 an hour for Herbert Young as foreman fore-man and John H. Blaine as carpenter car-penter and let them work 10 or 12 hours a day and then if they stay until' the Lake Fork bridge is complete, give them a 150 an hour bonus. Ward Evans and Lou Logan met with the commissioners and discussed the Lake Fork bridge. It was decided to leave the alignment align-ment as surveyed. The Indian Department De-partment will build the road on the west side, the Forest Service on the east side, and furnish all materials, and the county will I build the bridge. It was decided also that Floyd Lamb, county commissioner, would call Herbert Young to start the construction at once. Mr. Evans reported that the lumber for forms was already delivered. de-livered. The nails are at Herbert Young's. Turner's will deliver the cement and Orson Stevens will deliver the sand and gravel upon notice. Mr. Lamb said he would calL them when they were ready. The steel is at the Forest Service office in Dudbesne. cMc Assessor G. B. Workman asked if it would be advisable to go up to the Utah-Wyoming line and check for livestock from Wyoming Wyom-ing that are grazing in Utah (for assessment purposes). The commissioners com-missioners decided first to check with the forest service and then decide what should be done about assessing the transient livestock. cMc Assessor Workman reported the work he and Mr, Pixton from the State Tax Commission had done in checking real estate values in the county this summer. He reported re-ported that values for assessment purposes were not off enough that it would pay to spend time to re-value it; but did say that there would need to be some adjusting of values near the Duchesne-Uintah County line. cMc Lawrence Siddoway, secretary of the 21 Counties committee, and Curtis Duddley, county commissioner commis-sioner from Uintah County, discussed dis-cussed with the Duchesne county commissioners the Colorado River project. Mr. Siddoway requested the county commissioners to levy for the Colorado River. Commissioner Commis-sioner Duddley said Uintah County Coun-ty was going to levy one-half mill for the Colorado River Development. Develop-ment. cMc The clerk was ordered to purchase pur-chase fire insurance on the county coun-ty garage from Holiis Hullinger as follows: $3,00 on building and $2,000 on equipment and supplies. cMc The clerk was asked to purchase pur-chase one load of red pine plank from Leo Bird at $65 per 1000 feet. cMc The Standard Oil Company of California reported by letter that they were cancelling the oil lease between them and the county on property in Sec. 31, T. 2 S., R. 1 W. cMc The Clerk was asked to purchase pur-chase $17,000 fire insurance for four years from LawrelL Jensen, because the policy purchased from Mr. Jensen last year was for one year instead of five years. ' cMc A dumping ordinace for Duchesne Du-chesne County was discussed but no action taken. |
