Show Summer Band Program Started This Week In Roosevelt Area; Union High Board Sponsors Project At a recent meeting of the Union High School Board of Education, approval was given for a summer band schedule and Clyde Johnson was lemployed to direct the program. Activities got underway this week and will continue through the first week in August. In addition to the regular weekly beginner, junior high and advanced band classes, Mr. Johnson will teach, he has announced, an-nounced, the Union High band, which will be the advanced unit, un-it, has accepted three special invitations in-vitations to appear on programs, with other bids being made. On June 25, 26 and 27 the band will appear at the1 Vernal Rodeo'. Their next accepted laid is to participate in the Salt Lake City Pioneer Days on July 24 and 25. The UBIC in Roosevelt has them scheduled for Aug. 5, 6 and 7th. The "Vernal performance perfor-mance will net each band member mem-ber a $2.00 ticket daily, while the Salt Lake bid carries a free trip to Lagoon. The Roosevelt Kiwanis Club has requested the band to play a concert on the night of July 4th as a part of the annual Fireworks Fire-works display. ' ' According to Mr. Johnson instruction in-struction to all band students is free with the exception of $1.00 which is a music fee. These funds will buy new music. mu-sic. He also reported that the school has a number of instruments instru-ments that beginners might start out on if they do not have an instrument of their own. Following is the schedule as announced by Mr. Johnson: Lapoint Mondays, 9:30 a.m. Tridell Mondays, 1:00 p.m. (LDS Church House) Alterra and Ft. Duchesne Tuesdays, 9 p.m. Neola Tuesdays, 1 p.m. Myton Wednesdays, 9 a.m. Roosevelt Thursday, 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. (Elementary School) () All other classes in school houses. Adult musicians who desire to join the advanced band are cordially invited to do so, Mr. Johnson announced. He is hopeful hope-ful they might get a 100-piece band for summer concerts. |
