Mrs. Steve Bellon spent the past week in Salt Lake City where she received medical attention. at-tention. Mrs, Bee Jordan spent Tuesday Tues-day in Salt Lake City where she has been taking treatments for her eyes. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. H. Ruppei returned Wednesday from Salt Lake City where Mrs. Ruppei went for medical treatment. Clifford E. Young of Salt Lake City was a guest of Mr. and Mrs. Ray E. Dillman over the week end. The parents of Mrs. Mark Mc-Guire, Mc-Guire, Mr. and Mrs. Theo Phillips Phil-lips have received word of the birth of a son to Mr. and Mrs. McGuire of Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Parley Lambert have received word that a daughter was born to their daughter, Mrs. Donna Bohnet of San Bernardino, California. Mr. and Mrs. Orvil Rudy of Salt Lake City were visiting with Mr. Rudy's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Zar Rudy over the week end. Mrs. Elden Campbell and two children arrived last week from Yuba City, California to spend some time with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Moysh. i Miss Karma Dee Hartnston returned re-turned to Salt Lake City Sunday to continue her Contometor course. She spent the past week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Harmston. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Rich and children, and Mr. and Mrs. Woodie Marshall and baby from Salt Lake City spent the week end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Bracken. Miss Maurine Timothy, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Timothy returned to Salt Lake City Sunday, Sun-day, after spending two weeks visiting friends and " relatives here. Max Johnson, who recenlty received a medical discharge from the U S Merchant Marines, spent the week end visiting in Roosevelt. He returned to Salt Lake City Sunday, where he has , employment. Henry Schueler and Don C. Sparks, former residents of Roosevelt, but are now employed employ-ed at Clearfield, spent the week end visiting with friends here. They also enjoyed a pheasant hunt while here. Miss Miriam Long left Monday Mon-day to spend two weeks visiting at Merced, California, with her sister, Mrs. Irene Redford. She will also visit with Lavere Lab-rum, Lab-rum, who is stationed there with the U S Army Air Corp. Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Nelson of Bingham canyon, their three children; Mr. and Mrs. Clem Labrum, their two children, Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Cook and two children of Duchesne were guests at the Homer P. Edwards home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. David Evans of Salt Lake City spent the eek end at the home of Mr. Evans aunt, Mrs. Ray E. Dillman. They were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Homer P. Edwards Ed-wards Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Dell Timothy of Bingham Canyon spent the week end visiting friends and relatives in Roosevelt and vicinity. Mr. and Mrs. Timothy were former residents of Ballard. They re turned to their home Monday. Mrs. Leslie Ashton of Vernal came over Saturday to visit with her son C. L. and Mrs. Ashton and while here was stricken with a heart attack. She is much better and expects to be able to return to her home in a few days. LOCAL GIRL MAKES GOOD Pearl Bacon, daughter of Mrs. Etta Bacon recently spent part of her two weeks vacation here with her mother and a brother, r- TBert of Cedar- view and sister, Mrs. Evert Pope of Roosev elt. f . Pearl graduated i TlV,, from the Roose- N " 4j- velt High school : with the class .y,'V. of 1940, when " "V " she received an t ' award for being - vvA- ne outstanding K -vC student in Home V-Yv1' Economics. She later attended Pearl Bacon the B Y U for two years, and since April, 1943 has been employed by the United Unit-ed Air Lines, with the General office located at Chicago, Illinois. Illi-nois. Pearl is stationed at Salt Lake Municipal Air Port as cargo car-go clerk, where she has supervision super-vision of all loads, both passenger passen-ger and freight, that is loaded on each plane. Pearl is a sister of Douglas M. Bacon S M 3-c who was killed in action in the South Pacific July 5th. She is also the sister of Mrs. K. D. Todd of Heber City. Her mother accompanied her to Nampa Idaho to visit her brother, Russell Bacon. LEGION AND AUXILIARY PHEASANT DINNER The American Legion and Auxiliary of Basin Post No. 64, will entertain at their Annual Pheasant dinner Saturday, November No-vember 11th at 1 p. m. All veterans vet-erans of War are invited guests. For the dinner each veteran is expected to furnish a dressed pheasant or a chicken whicn is to be delivered to the Auxiliary , Friday or can be left at the Cash Meat Market. If impossible to furnish a pheasant or chicken you are invited to come. Everything Every-thing is free to men and women in uniform and their partners. Kenneth Trujillo, Ray Tuttle, Ronald Page and M. G. PenficM comprise the committee in charge. A dance will be held at the barracks the same evening at 8 p. m. House Parly A delightful party was held at the home of Miss June and Jane McClure at Bennett. A delicious chili super was served, dancing and games were enjoyed by those present: Pfc. Marvin Roberts, Rob-erts, Therlo and Leonard Finn, Lola Jenkins, Jennie and Patsy Hatch, Norma McMullin, Joyce, Lynn and Wayne Haslem, Art Henderson, Vernon Buchanan, Joy Burton, Nile and Lloyd Hamaker, Art and Byron Bolton, Bol-ton, Ardella Trujillo, Verona, Ted and Clarence Gardner, Jane McClure, Rose Murphy, Leland Mitchell, Phil and Howard Mc-Kowen Mc-Kowen and the hostess, June McClure. Just a Mere Club Mrs. Farrell Wilkins was the hostess to the members of Just a Mere Bridge club last Thursday Thurs-day evening. After a delicious lunch was served, three tables were arranged for bridge. The Halloween motif was carried out during the evening. Those present pres-ent were Reva Owen, Lola Rich-ens, Rich-ens, Lora Killian, Gladys Zimmerman, Zim-merman, Bessie Wardie, Dora Larsen, Marion Huxford. Erma Labrum, Erma Jensen, Florence Adams and Dorothy Walker. Neighborhood Sewing Club Mrs. Howard Andrews entertained enter-tained the members of the Bridgette club at the home of Mrs. Dave Andrews Thursday evening. Those present were Mrs. Parley Rawlings, Mrs. Stanley Hall, Mrs. Frank Griffin, Grif-fin, Mrs. Darrell Walker, Mrs. Louis Laris, Mrs. J. S. Rawlings, Mrs. Lee Allred, LaRue Allred, Mrs. W. S. Mann, Mrs. Dave Andrews An-drews and the hostess, Mrs. Andrews. An-drews. A lovely luncheon was served and the evening was spent sewing. Friday Bridge The members of the Friday bridge club were entertained Friday night at the home of Mrs. I Paul Murphy. A lovely luncheon was served and the remainder of the evening was spent playing bridge. Those present were Mrs. Louis Corbridge, Mrs. V, A. Bair, Mrs. Ray S. Jordan, Mrs. Lea, Mrs. Eugene Harmston, Wm. H. Ruppei, Mrs. J. V. Mo Mrs. Carroll Robbins and the hostess. Daughters of Utah Pioneers The meeting that was scheduled schedul-ed to be held Friday, November 24th will be held Friday, November No-vember 17th at the home of Mrs. Lola Richens, it was announced by the president, Mrs. Helen Howell. The change has been made because of the former date so close to Thanksgiving. . Thought and Thimble Club The members were ,entertain-ed ,entertain-ed by Mrs. Faye White at her home Friday evening. A lovely luncheon was served to Pearl Redmond, Clista Angus, Renet ta Granger, Naoma Benson, Margaret Wiscombe, Mabel Allen, Al-len, Vivian Gleaton and the hostess, host-ess, Mrs. White. New Arrival Mr. and Mrs. John Winn of Roosevelt are the proud parents of a 734 lb. baby girl, born November No-vember 3. Mother andbabe are getting along nicely. |
