Show I Cows Die A load of grasshopper bait dumped and forgotten on George Carroll's range at Altonah several sever-al years ago took 24 head of Carroll's Hereford stock last week. The sudden and unexplainable death of some of the best in his herd sent Mr. Carroll to the telephone, tele-phone, where he communicated with the State college. A state veterinarian was dis-i dis-i patched to the scene and exhaustive exhaus-tive tests were made. The subsequent sub-sequent report from the state chemist showed that the supposed suppos-ed malady which struck viciously vicious-ly at the Carroll herd was arsenic ar-senic poisoning. Source of the poison was traced to the forgotten forgot-ten load of grasshopper bait dumped on the Carroll range. Mr. Carroll maintains that the bait was discarded on his range-land range-land without his knowledge. Anyway 24 head of his stock died, and among the casualties were several head of pure-bred Herefords. |
