The CIO infiltrated into the Democratic Party. Then the CIO commenced to take charge. They almost succeeded in get ting their candidate, Henry Wallace Wal-lace in as vice-president. Now this CIO leader, Henry, himself, suggests that the Democratic Party be purged of all who do not cooperate in the radical plan of the CIO. This is the party of our fathers in Dixie, the men who fought for state's right, low tariff, Individual Individ-ual initiative and other ideals dear to the hearts of Southerners. Southern-ers. This is the party that Southern South-ern men once would, fight you about. Now look who. is in xt. We are not trying to draw a line between liberal and conservative conserv-ative thinking as applied to this t party. We are talking about, how the party has been taken over by outsiders. ' The first step was the Franklin Frank-lin Roosevelt recommended abolition of the two-thirds rule in the nomination of candidates for president and vice-president. At the time this newspaper apposed ap-posed the abolition of that rule and predicted as did many other Southern newspapers that it spelled the ruination of the party. par-ty. Well, it happened, and those who are responsible for the demise and party principle will not be courageous enough to admit ad-mit it. This always is the rule when such things happen. And now Henry wants to run out of the party all of those individuals in-dividuals who still hold to the traditions upon which the party was founded. It is as laughable as it is pathetic. Again, this is not a discussion of the principles themselves but of the clever manner in which the members of the Democrats, were given the old fashioned run-around. The Somerset (Penna.) Daily American (Republican) says: Patent System Patents are devices for rewarding reward-ing inventors for their geniuses and labors. Henry A. Wallace, Secretary of Commerce, believe it or not, one time secretary of agriculture and feeder of the little pigs to the fishes, is out with a plan to destroy the patent system and give every potential thief a chance to share the loot. At the same time, the outlook for the American way of life will be shot into the place from which the new deal came. Henry is no credit to the Truman Tru-man administration. He was no credit to the Roosevelt administration. administ-ration. He is no credit to the United States of America. The patent system has been an amazing contributor to the development de-velopment of the greatness of America. By reason of it, millions mil-lions of jobs have been created Tor American wage earners. The average American enjoys more comforts, more conveniences and the average American lives bet ter than the average citizen of any other nation on earth. The patent system explains this happy hap-py condition. Henry A. Wallace has a hunch that everybody ought to have what anybody else finds agreeable, agree-able, whether they want it or not. Because some people have ideas that prove profitable, Henry Hen-ry would deny them the fruits of their genius and industry. Well, that's the way to level off. The grave is Henry's ultimate ulti-mate goal. There only does one find absolute eguality. The Middlesboro (Kentucky).... Three States (Republican) says: . . . The minute we cease firing, our whole effort should be concentrated con-centrated on the effort to raise food, and now the war has been over for 12 months and we are told the whole world is starving to death. It just dosn't make sense. It must be a lot of put-on, a lot of deadbeats and a lot of bums. People have had time to produce. Have they just laid down and quit, stopped work with the intent and purpose that some one is going to feed them? The slogan should be "Go To Work." We do not know what Hoover is doing or what he can do, but let us hope he does not overlook the "go-to-work" angle when he investigates these starving nations. na-tions. . |
