Show Explosion Injures Jensen Vet An exploding tank of fluid used in a flame thrower for destroying des-troying weeds seriously burned Asa Johnston, 24, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Johnston of Jensen, Jen-sen, Wednesday afternoon. The tank containing the inflammable liquid was a part of a portable flame thrower used in weed control. It was attached to the back of Mr. Johnston at the time the explosion occurred. With the exploding of the tank, Johnston was thrown into the path of the flames caused by burning weeds. The fire which engulfed him, setting his clothes aflame was extinguished by a party of five men who were working with Johnston. At the Uintah Basin hospital in Vernal his condition was described des-cribed as "very critical" and he was removed to the Veteran's hospital in Salt Lake City. Asa Johnston is a veteran of the Iwo Jima campaign and four other major Pacific battles. He was attached to the Marine Corp. |
