Show Local 4H Girls Top County Fair, State Competitions 4-H clubs topped the list of exhibitors with exceptional displays dis-plays at the 1947 Duchesne County Fair, held September 12 and 13, Bernice Palfreyman, Home Demonstration Agent disclosed dis-closed Wednesday. With the greatest number of entries ever recorded for the fair, 4-H club .members clinched more than their share of first prizes. Five of the blue ribbon winners, win-ners, Miss Palfreyman said, entered en-tered 4-H state competition at the Centennial Exhibition grounds in Salt Lake early this week. Maurino Gilbert and Renee Stewart, of Roosevelt, as a team, prepared . lunch and served six people for a total expenditure of $2.24. The two girls had, as their special luncheon guests, Sheldon Brewster, Chairman of the Exposition; Ex-position; David Sharp, Utah 4-H Club Leader, and Elna Miller, Mil-ler, Extension Nutrition specialist. The Roosevelt girls were accorded ac-corded second place in the lunch preparation division. LeRae Drollinger and Sally Nelson, of Ioka, were awarded first place for their demonstration demonstra-tion of a French seam. While Louise Stoddard, a second year 4-H member, of Roosevelt, won top spot for her demonstration of the preparation of milk drinks. Miss Stoddard with six other club members from various var-ious Utah 4-H clubs, was interviewed inter-viewed over station KDYL Wednesday Wed-nesday morning. The local girls who competed in the state demonstrations were guests of the Centennial Commission. |
