Clair Jensen and wife visited Clair's grandmother, Mrs. Roxa Taylor during the week. Clair has been serving in the armed forces for over four years. He has been overseas most of the time. The Jensens were former residents of Lapoint but now live in Seattle Washington. Clair was enroute from Texas to Ft. Douglas to receive his discharge. Mr. and Mrs. Nowland of Hollywood, California, accompanied accom-panied by their daughter and Reed Angus are visiting Mrs. Alice Angus, brother Dean and .the Floyd Angus family. The school year opened Monday Mon-day under Principal George R. Hacking, and the following teaching staff; Georgia Thompson, Thomp-son, Cynthia Taylor, Thelma Lee, and Irva Huber. Minnie Reynolds and Gladys Wardle will serve as cooks. Jimmie Corbett of Denver, Colorado is visiting with the Lawrence Caldwell family. With Craig Caldwell, Jimmie completed complet-ed his basic training at Camp Roberts, California, and saw action on the European front. In Germany he was re-united with Craig Caldwell. Both served as paratroopers. Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Swain and Mrs. Lovicia Smith were visitors in Salt Lake City during the week where they attended the State Fair. Mrs. Margaret Harrison was honored on her 69th birthday, September 10, by a surprise visit from the following members mem-bers of her family; Mr. and Mrs. Lorin Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Toni Minardi, Mr. and Mrs. Del-bcrt Del-bcrt Horrocks, Dean Preece and family, Frank Jenkins and family, fam-ily, and Jenny Harrison, An informal in-formal luncheon high-lighted the j evening. Honoring George Bigelow on his 53rd birthday anniversary, September 12, Mrs. Bigelow and the immediate members of the family gave a weiner and corn roast. The gathering was held on the river with the following present; pre-sent; Mrs. Bigelow, Mrs. Orvel Hullinger and children, Kenneth Ha.rtle and Family, Beth Perry, and Elroy Wilkins and family of Roosevelt Mrs. Roxa Taylor was visited during the week by Mr. and Mrs. Roy Taylor of Bridgeland. Mrs. Hattie Hurst has accepted accept-ed assignment at the Tridell ward school. She will conduct the 5th and 6th grades. On September 15, Mrs. Vera Bigelow intertained in honor ol her daughter Betty's twelfth birthday anniversary. The party was held at Mrs, Bigelow's home where games were played and luncheon served. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Huber announce an-nounce the marriage of their daughter, June to Loris Wooley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wooley. The marriage was solemnized sol-emnized in the Salt Lake Temple on September 11. Loris has served serv-ed in the armed forces for the past two years, and has seen overseas duty. He will report to his post in Texas September 26. The newlywcds are graduates of Alterra high school, and Mrs. Wooley has completed two years at the Brigham Young University. Univers-ity. A shower and dance will honor Mr. and Mrs. Loris Wooley September 24, in the Lapoint chapel. H. Lundel and Carl Preece of Vernal were the speakers at Sacrament meeting on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Rile Blackburn have been in Vernal for several days with Mr. Blackburn's mother moth-er who has been seriously ill. Mrs. Blackburn is 88 years old. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Ross and sons of Vernal were recent visitors visit-ors of Mrs. Roxa Taylor. Mrs. Taylor is the mother of Mrs. Ross. |
