Show District Will Cease Operation Of Equipment At the regular meeting of the board of supervision, held at Roosevelt, October 8, it was voted to discontinue the operation opera-tion of construction equipment, according to Chester H. Hartman Secretary. "It is now possible to get sufficient conservation work done by private equipment equip-ment owners," stated Mr. Hart-man, Hart-man, "and the District does not want to compete with other equipment. Most of the equipment equip-ment now being operated by the District has been loaned to us by the Soil Conservation Service but since our organization in 1941, we have been able to accumulate acc-umulate an Eversman leveler, Chattin ditcher, and Miskin scraper, along with several other small items ." The District will continue to assist farmers, as in the past," said Mr. Hartman, "and- by our not having the problems of handling hand-ling equipment, we plan to be able to assist more farmers with their conservation problems." At the present time, District activities are being centered around the range reseeding program at Fruitland, land leveling, level-ing, clearing, and stock ponds at Talmage, irrigation structures and land leveling at Vernal. A schedule of motion pictures is being lined up in the Roosevelt work unit and will be shown during the next thirty days. Any groups interested in seeing a movie on the conservation of our soil and water should get in touch with one of the district supervisors or call at the soil conservation office. |
