Show R SOLUTION resolution E WHEREAS statistics covering highway lithway traffic accidents in 1944 though hough still incomplete prove the number of deaths in utah resulting from such accidents increased more than 16 per cent as compared with 1943 the number of accidents increased n in the same time more than 10 per ce cent ent at least three of the cleat deaths hs were from acci accidents denis in which drivers were operating whose licenses had been revoked or suspended A very large proportion of the victims of fatal motor vehicle accidents were pedestrians officials have noted an ever increasing tendency on the part of a considerable portion of the public to ignore or to defy laws enacted in the interests of public safety the utah laws covering highway traffic safety are modern and in accord with the thought of safety eng engineers n and traffic students thru out the nation WHEREAS these facts call for bobil both aggressive enforcement of the cie safety statutes and for vigorous public support of the enforcing agencies now therefore BE IT RESOLVED that the public education committee of the traffic division of the utah safety council redouble its efforts to the end that every responsible user of utah highways and streets si shall he be impressed with the need for alert and conscious observance of all traffic rules and regulations design ed for public safety and that pedestrians dest rians as well a as s car operators be impressed with the need to take every whether required by law or by regard for their own safety and that of others and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that we pledge our support and that of the thinking public to the efforts of all officers whether employed by state county or municipality in the rigid enforcement of all safety laws and especially of those statutes which refuse permission to use the highways to unqualified and unauthorized persons and abl dbl BE IT ia FURTHER RESOLVED that we commend all enforcement officers and agencies and especially supt bupt P L dow of the st state ate H highway agh patrol and chief of police reed of salt lake city for the measures they have taken to follow up cases of all ail persons convicted of such serious offe offenses anses against traffic safety that the law law requires the suspension or revocation of their operators license i il r |
