Show SINGERS SINGER S ARE SURPRISED spenial cial meeting called by new presidency stake chorister G M jones released because of greater duties as stake clerk george 41 jones stake chorister of sevier stake was from from that position at a special meeting of the stake choir called by the new stake presidency list thursday ight the announcement was made to the dissembled issem bled singers by 11 president resident young and the action ws was a complete molete co surprise to them president young in mil ing the announcement explained that mr jones services were w ere so much more valuable to them as stake clerk than as chorister chor ster and his duties had so increased that they deemed it necessary to relieve him of the choristers cho duties he also assured the singers that the release was not because of any lack laek of ability or for neglect of his duties that mr jones was released as the stake dency was wad fully convinced that it would be impossible to find a man of 0 greater ability or faithfulness as chorister and only the importance of his other duties compelled the change to be made each of the stake presidency expressed practically the same sentiment as president young and each of the choir chair members were billed upon to speak all expressed the greatest surprise and mr jones was commended by each of the singers for his capable and faithful work in the past and not a few shed tears at parting with their old direct oi mr jones in a farewell address expressed sed the satisfaction he had experienced experienc ed in choir work and ory orly the lesson of obedience obe dierce which in biu from refusing the other important duties and sticking to tie te choir he was visibly effected while talking to his old singers after the speeches by various choir ohp ho deicy handed each member a slip of paper and asked them for an expression as to their choice of a leader when these ballots were collected the presidency denev announced that they could not make any deci suin at that time and they requested the singers to give their support to mr jones until a leader was selected george georee M jones has been stake choir director for the past 12 bears ears and during that time he has devoted all his energies to the work he has been faithful and attentive and he allowed no pleasure ole asure or other duty to interfere with his work he was always present at rehearsals and meetings and nothing was permitted to come between him and his work werk he took a keen delight in the work and he has haa introduced many ot of the church music classics to the worship pers at the tabernacle it goes with out saying that it will be a hard matter tu to find a man who will fill the position left vacant and it is equally certain anat a more faithful and energetic choir director will be impossible to find |
