| Show COST OF WALKS AT EPHRAIM bids for contract are lower than figures furnished by officers of provo the specifications for the construction of cement sidewalks at ephraim together with the bids submitted to the council for the contract have been received from the officers of that city and will doubtless be perused with interest by local main street property ownes at a meeting held saturday night the ephraim city council decided to do all the grading and let the contract only for the cement work the bids are for five inches of concrete and one rich of dressing shing un on top and while the city requires only a six foot valk v v alk the property owners in the business section will build t it the wid h b the contractor to do the additional work at the same price the bids are as follows k C nielsen et al ephraim 14 cents per square foot S R winn nephi cents per square foot C J christensen ephraim 17 cents per square foot J W tie ephram 12 cents per square foot it is said that the contract will undoubtedly be awarded to mr air tie from the foregoing bids it will be seen that under the conditions that obtain at ephraim the highest bid for constructing a 12 foot walk that is the cement work vork is 2 04 per lineal foot while the bid which will doubtless be accepted is 1 41 per lineal foot the specifications as prepared by J A hougaard city engineer at manti call for strictly first class worl work all of the gravel used under the contract must be cleaned from dust dirt and other objection objectionable ible matter by washing and only nigh high grade portland cement is 13 to be used stringent rules are laid down for the performance of all the work on the sidewalks |
