Show if lichfield nich D 0 field shop arians suba ettam approval expected soon will extend industrial training plans for a junior high school shop building at richfield were adopted friday and have been submitted to the alfice for approval the school districts share of the construction costs having been estimated at approximately the district engineer has indicated to school officials that approval of the project is possible within about 30 30 days the plans call for a brick building feet long and 54 feet wide with cement floors to be divided into two sections one for instruction in industrial arts and the other for instruction in farm mechanics chanice cs to be so arranged that one or two teachers may supervise both departments the building is to be erected west of the new junior high school and in line with the nigh high school building it is to be connected with the heating plant of the new junior high school building the plan with minor changes follows an outline made by the shop instructor melvin roper I 1 which won commendation from the architect it will be different from any other shop building in the state and is designed to serve in developing a broader program for both boys and girls in industrial training and handicraft according to superintendent A J ashman meeting to consider the plans friday were mr scott of the firm of scott and welch architects W L warner richfield member of the sevier district board ofed of education uca tion talmage delange clerk of the board superintendent ashman and mr roper david gourley assistant state superintendent of public instruction and H B gunderson vocation director for the state department in the field of trades and industries were also in attendance and offered suggestions gest ions |
