Show school lunch canning centers open this week A aramin training g sc school hool for workers to be employed at school lunch canning centers was held on monday at the telluride auditorium with arrangements in charge of mrs J J county supervisor of projects visiting instructors were miss aliss alice todd of the state department mrs blanch johnson zone supervisor of projects and reeves richardson zone safety director surplus string beans will be purchased from students at I 1 cent a pound corn in husks at one half cent a pound and pod peas atone at one half cent a pound arrangements have been made for most of the corn and peas needed but it will vill be especially appreciated if growers of string beans will sell their surplus to the canning centers they may notify mrs airs J J phone 2 before a m or af after ter 7 p in any day canning will be done at the school lunch centers in monroe richfield and salina persons not able to contact mrs airs about information may see the local supervisors mrs airs christy anderson monroe mrs airs olivia anderson richfield or mrs airs myrl lau salina although the school lunch project will be given first consideration direct relief clients and clients who furnish and prepare their vegetables at the center may have them processed and canned by the trained workers as in previous years provided appointments are made that do not interfere with the school project mrs stated that donations of fruit from anyone having a surplus will be appreciated for the school lunch hinch as no funds are arc provided for purchase of fruit already some pears and apples have been contributed |
