Show new records made by county bounty fair r premium payments in preparation for long list of exhibitors sevier savier county fair and I kow cow bounty carnival Kar officials have been neen busy this week compiling re cords and preparing to mail premium checks to exhibitors and local contest winners after concluding saturday the most successful fair since the fete was resumed as an annual event three years ago the exact financial outcome will not be known until a detailed financial statement can be completed but it looks as if the fair win will at least break even this year officers state which is highly gratifying considering deficits in some previous deais in at least two respects the fair broke all previous records of sevier county fairs the crowd atthe at the grounds friday afternoon was declared to be the largest ever in attendance at a county fair here and the he livestock exhibits were greater in number and of better quality in general than at previous fairs except for horses limited in number because lecause of space available all ex hibits offered interest to the student of home products the rodeo performance by colborn colbom company with a few amateur events thrown in special entertainment features between rodeo acts and races and a race program that attracted some of the fastest horses in the western states as well as providing one race daily for sevier county horses exclusively won favor of carnival Kar visitors amateur rodeo performers were tuffy of kanab wayne allen alien of antimony ray pay white of beaver ross floss ogden of richfield dark clark allen alien of antimony Ari bill shirl of kanab and leo stanton of sigurd visiting tinz judges seemed favorably impressed with the exhibits at the fair and a certain amount of favorable publicity undoubtedly came to the county inasmuch as many persons from outside counties attended officers reported that nine counties were represents by visitors at the fair one day some of them in good numbers A full list of fair premium winners is not yet available and would probably be too lengthy to warrant publication listed below are winners in a few junior events and in the horse pulling contests baby contest leading the list perhaps should be the baby contest winners entries were placed by groups in three divisions as first second and third place winners first place winners were as follows ted thompson son of mr air and mrs airs dick thompson richfield antoinette poulson daughter of dr and mrs L A poulson richfield jack francis winkel son of mr air and mrs airs john winkel richfield michail barton son of mr and mrs hogarth barton richfield phyllis hansen daughter of mr air and mrs airs phil hansen richfield style dress revue in the 4 H club girls style dress revue held friday afternoon at the johnston hotel winners were francis erickson venice first norene jackson venice second lorna cowley venice third forestry demonstration the derrion demonstration conducted at the sevier stake tabernacle friday afternoon was won by venice brown and mavis magleby of mon roe girls team and by quist and calvin lindquist of koo sharem boys team on group exhibit at the fair monroe won first and koosharem Koo sharem second horse pulling contest IV winners inners owners of winning teams in the horse pulling contests a drawing card at the carnival Kar are as follows owners of teams in the middle weight class everett durfee aurora first orvil andrews aurora second alva lund third owen bagley koosharem Koo sharem fourth an drew jensen centerfield Center field fifth light weight joe curtis aurora first moyle axtell second john bastian sigurd third dean hales sigurd fourth verge thalman sigurd fifth heavy weight leo thalman sigurd first george morley axtel second leroy gledhill sigurd third legrand durfee aurora fourth and fifth owen bagley of koosharem Koo sharem won a prize as the best teamster especially interesting were the 4 H and F F A livestock exhibits illustrative of the effort the juniors with cooperation of leaders and civic organizations are putting forth to improve herds classes in which they placed well s groomed animals included registered jersey and holstein Holat eln dairy stock hereford and shorthorn beef cattle rambouillet Ram boullet hampshire southdown and suffolk sheep spotted poland china chester white and duroc jersey purebred and registered swine exhibitors were from redmond in the north to marysvale Marys vale in the south and greenwich in the east |
