Show R H S wins coveted award general high rating brings honors in combination commercial event richfield high school commer cial students won the most coveted award at the fifteenth annual intermountain ter commercial contest conducted friday at the brigham young university the large blue and white pennant given for the highest records in combined short hand typewriting and ing this pennant has been won by the provo high school durin during 1 the three previous years it has hasi i been offered although richfield placed a close second for the hon 1 or last year in previous contests richfield has bas won more individual honors but the winning of the combination event indicates a general high rating of all the members of the teams team s which should be especially gratifying to the instructors clarence wilson and max marquardson to win the honor two shorthand two bookkeeping ond three type teams participated since richfield has no third year or amateur type class the instructors entered two of their first year and one second year alternate team members as an amateur team to complete the full list required which but serves to enhance the honor won provo was a close second the school also won the plaque for having the first place novice type team for class A high schools with net words phyllis do de lange of richfield won second place for first year type writing the same number of words 55 but with a little less accuracy than the first place winner elouise geidner placed third in first year shorthand with words the first place being won with words dona vee peterson won avon third and a 15 scholarship in in second year bookkeeping with 93 points against lua lor for the atie nisi place winner evelyn von vion third in first year bookkeeping with 94 points against for the first place winner except for the one scholarship individual winners received certificates R H S teams including students from richfield venice sigurd koosharem Koo sharem and glenwood were as follows first year type margaret poul foul son phyllis de lange wilma gunn second year type tarie marle warnock maryon page berne dean parks first year shorthand phyllis de lange larue orton elouise gardner evelyn second year shorthand norma jorgenson eldon jensen edith nielson norene rickenbach first year bookkeeping keith christensen jerry poulson evelyn rula despain leah dastrup second year bookkeeping warie mane warnock dona vee peterson iphil Phil beal john cluff hal amateur type carolyn poulson and lena peterson first year stud 0 bents and rose thompson a second 0 nd year student for the combination award in shorthand the R H S rated less than I 1 per cent behind provo and placed in the same way in book keeping north sevier high school of salina also received some especially fine awards in the class B group taking the electric clock for farsi first place team honors in second year type the team composed of ja janice gribble darlene and fan farr fanis is shaw had a net of words also going to this school vos the combination award for the highest combined team average for the novice and second year typewriting events janice gribble placed second in second year typewriting carol freece third in first year typewriting jay nelson is the instructor represented in the contests were 46 high schools of utah idaho wyoming and nevada with students entered richfield granite weber jordan and provo won the most awards in the class A division |
