clipped one event off tuesdays race program and resulted in the circus being called off tuesday the sevier county fair was in many respects highly successful one of the b best es t ra race c e programs and horse pulling in g c contests n te ats ever seen here as well as some excellent exhibits high sell school ool b bands a rids of the district furnished music and special cit cilcus cus attractions were featured between races it has been impossible to compile a complete list of prize winners in all events in time for publication li this week but a list will be ready by next week it is announced by don E kenney fair manager the fair association president chariton the fair manager and directors conferred wednesday following which it was announced that bills connected ne C t ed with arrangements for the fair should be presented at once and these bills and the premiums will be paid within the next two weeks to assure accuracy in accounting for receipts the county treasurer has had charge of tickets A financial report could not be compiled in time for publication mr air kenney stated wednesday a deficit would probably be unavoidable because of the storms but it is not expected to be as large as last year when expenses were much higher because of the bodeo it was possible to deduct from the payment of to siebrand bros and from the death dodgers payment of because of a clause in the contracts making it possible for the fair association to deduct these amounts in case rain with the circus performances when the parade of livestock was shown wednesday remarks were quite generally heard to the effect that it was the finest lot of livestock ever assembled in sevier munty county A trick tr ck horse entered by ray dastrup attracted attention in n this event quite a lot of livestock was vas sold wednesday to buyers from nephi delta deseret Dese Desei iet ct sanpete and wayne counties and some sales were made within the county maneuvers by the richfield girls drum and bugle corps lead off the afternoons program david A smith state commissioner of agriculture visited the fair wednesday representing governor henry H blood to whom an invitation had been extended mr air smith expressed himself as being well pleased with the exhibits he was accompanied on his tour of the grounds by H W gore district agricultural inspector in charge of community exhibits outstanding in the community exhibits was the elsinore EI town exhibit it was highly creditable to this community and was suggestive of possibilities in this line one display claimed elsinore EI to be the largest shipping point for livestock in utah another of a stuffed hen standing in front of a modernly designed nest full of eggs proclaimed that had been received by elsinore EI poultry men for eggs during 1937 another stated that elsinore EI supplied people with thanksgiving dinner in 1937 another showed in miniature what the recently approved elsinore EI recreation hall will look like when it is completed still others represented sports home economic and school arts exhibits from richfield and monroe won first and second places in their division but the elsinore EI unit in a division for smaller communities deservedly won the championship champions 11 ll another group exhibit of inte interest rest was one on dietetics entered by the annabella relief society exhibits exhibits in evidence the smaller domestic arti art exhibit was least partly accounted for by the fact that it was limited this to work made since the 1937 fair flower exhibits were ot and variety that would indicate every home in sevier county could have beautiful surroundings agricultural ri horticultural dairy and poultry exhibits offered an interesting study as did the 4 H and F F A departments some fino fine woodwork dvork made in the high school shops of the district was surprising and numerous other attractions called for observation the horse pulling contests were keenly contested with 30 teams entered monday in elimination events on the final test tuesday the team entered by leo thalman of vermilion placed first in the heavy wel weight ht class lee kurfees Dur fees team from aurora won the middle weight division and a team entered by dean hales of redmond won the light weight divisions owen bagley of koosharem Koo sharem worl won honors for horsemanship and a second E H street
