Show funeral held for boneer resident andrew N lawson passes away after lingering illness funeral services for andrew nesbitt lawson 83 a utah pioneer and resident of richfield since 1876 were held monday afternoon in the first ward chapel mr lawson died at his home here saturday mor mornine niner of a lingering illness incident to age the services were conducted by bishop junius F ogden F AT ogden of the sevier stake presidency gave a brief biographical sketch and expressed appreciation of his acquaintance with mr air lawson while serving as bishop in the first ward other speakers were joseph smith of monroe patriarch H J hansen and george rossiter of salt lake A a relative A quartet composed of thomas ransom lucian winget eli lundgreen and walter 0 lundgreen of monroe sang the opening number bury me ale near the old home hame other musical umbers were a vocal solo softly and sweetly jesus is calling me by mrs effie elickson Ei ickson hulbert of salt lake a vocal solo going home by mrs L A poulson and one selection god be with you till we meet again sung by a double mixed quartet under direction of mrs emily hiesdorff Gies dorff and composed of mrs airs lucille G davis mrs airs verl ogden mrs H W keate mrs airs owen AT ogden charles J dewey J milton poulson G H hales and terrah L black mrs airs lizzle lizzie hansen was accompanist the he invocation was by R D young a brother in law and president of the manti temple the benediction by G W blomquist A G young dedicated the grave interment being in the richfield city cemetery honorary pallbearers pall bearers members of the cieli priests quorum to which air lawson belonged were john ence heber ogden G W blomquist mark waters jas P poulson and christian bertelsen Eer telsen active pallbearers pall bearers were grandsons kenneth rex roger robert and kimball lawson and don mcmaster mr air lawson was born at holly town scotland january 1 1855 a son of arch archibald and agnes nesbitt lawson at the age of eight years he baptized a member of the L D S church ho he was nine years of age when he started to work in the coal mines before the family cam to america they arrived in new york july 14 1868 and from there went vent by train to council bluffs and made the rest of the journey to salt lake by oxen and mule teams they arrived in salt lake august 19 1868 mr lawson married agnes AT young september 12 1875 in the salt lake endowment house and on february 12 1876 they moved to richfield where they continued to reside mr lawson at one time engaged in the creamery and bakery business and later managed the richfield hardware store he served as sevier county sheriff as county game warden as a member of the richfield city council and as a director of the board the couple would have observed their wedding anniversary september 12 together with t the he wedding anniversaries of t two grandchildren they made a custom of a joint celebration of the wedding anniversary and mrs airs lawsons birthday surviving mr lawson are his widow five of their ten children 1 mrs airs katherine page worry werry richfield mrs airs martha mount E los 09 angeles mrs airs agnes mcalaster cr magna mrs hazel dale sanford salt lake and william R lawson salt lake seventeen grandchildren and 16 great g grandchildren survive all of mr lawsons immediate family were at his bedside when he passed away |
