Show county countywide wide cleanup clean u up campaign set health council initiates plan at meeting wednesday night A countywide county wide cleanup clean up and paint up campaign was adopted adopt edas as a major project by the sevier county health council at a meeting held wednesday night at the branch office of the utah state board of health in the library building at richfield A committee headed by dr eugene H was appointed to present plans and a proclamation to town boards for approval speaking of the councils plans R T thurber chairman of the council made the following comments sevier county occupies a L position of envy we have some leaders in every community who want their towns and cities to look right then too we now have the active support of a complete unit of the utah state board of health this is something that is worth a great deal to our county cleanliness beauty and health go hand in hand now that spring is here the soil sell is 1 calling allin us lets let throw off our coats and warm up that old spade and rake if every person s on will plant a flower or shrub we will change the complexion of our communities more than we now appreciate referring to the sanitary inspection in progress in richfield last week mr thurber stated that the cleanup clean up campaign is intended to be a follow up project we want a clean town of richfield and of every other community in the county he said and added we can accomplish this if everybody will lend support by cleaning painting and by planting flowers shrubs and trees if richfield is eventually to be an important link in the alaska to mexico highway lets make it attractive there is no better place on earth to grow beautiful flowers and shrubs than here there are those who think our soil is not adapted to flowers and shrubs because their efforts have not been successful in the past it takes patience and an understanding to raise anything but son soil experts have declared we can raise as fine flowers here as any place our highways should be made beautiful by planting trees along them the north and south entrances to richfield are an unsightly mess both entrances could be made beautiful and the state road commission should be commended on the start they have made at the south entrance richfield has enough wasted wa s ted time on the part of those who would like a job to completely ren novate our city insofar as a cleanup and paint up campaign is concerned if this labor could be used on a project of this nature mr thurber was active in the utah development league when the first statewide state wide cleanup clean up campaign was conducted 30 years ago under the direction of dr charles beatty |
