Show sevier stake c inference ference on held sunday primary and sunday school conduct convention sessions george H holt and george durham of the deseret sunday school union board and mis alis bernice ivory and mrs airs marian kerr of the general board of the primary association were visiting speakers at quarterly conference and sunday school and primary convention sessions held saturday night and sunday at the sevier stake tabernacle A meeting and social hour were ere ake held saturday evening by the s stake primary board and visitors stake board meetings tor for the sunday school and primary were held at sunday morning and at 3 p ni departmental sessions for stake and ward workers were in charge of stake boards headed by superintendent in orson F B christensen of the sunday school and president jessio jessie poulson of the primary general conference sessions were held at 10 a m and at 2 p m with president W eugene poulson presiding and the 11 1 I A conference program was held sunday evening music alusic furnished by the stake choir included anthems ate to the elie easter season music or spring and light of ane world we han hall thee vor for the latter number mrs li A poulson was soloist and trumpets were played by arden jensen alden fulmore and vernon jensen the choir was directed by mrs airs otto L anderson with carvel mattsson as organist it was given special recognition in remarks by george durham himself a musician and son of a pioneer composer of L D S hymns mr durham played as a piano selection the lamentation written by his father miss melba jensen of richfield who returned from the texas mission in december and jay of venice who recently returned from the western states mission spoke at the sunday morning session the first quarterly conference session they have adar addressed essed since their return and related some interesting te experiences of their missionary labors mr jensen brought greetings from miss Al mildred ildred 1 hunter of richfield now nov laboring in the states mission in this connection it was interesting to note from the statistical report submitted by the stake clerk vv A that the stake now has 29 missionaries in the field serving in south america south africa eusope the scandinavian countries anu ana the united states george H holt fi aiom ont the sunday I 1 school general board commented favorably on this fact stating that he believed the stake to be above aboa the church average in this respect mrs airs ivory devoted her remarks sunday morning to a discussion of spiritual growth through human relationships and mrs kerri kerr gave a concise i aview of the history of the primary association and of its present program mr durham recounted experiences of his youth spent in southern utah and testified of the joy found in service mr air holt in commenting on the service of missionaries read an article written by dr elbert hubbard relative to the mormon missionary system officers were presented by the stake clerk and sustained the I 1 opening and closing prayers for the morning session by charles wilson and ted hansen the sunday afternoon session followed a general outline the visiting authorities discussed phases of the theme how parents and teachers can cooperate in teaching the gospel the opening prayer was by irvin L warnock of sigurd and tile the closing prayer by bishop junius jumus F ogden mrs W R little conducted the M I 1 A conference program sunday evening jay was again an interesting speaker and a retold story was vas given by mrs airs R D buchanan musical numbers were selections by a ladies trio comprised of mrs airs L A poulson mrs airs otto L anderson and mrs airs vern blomquist with miss margaret poulson as accompanist and selections by a girls trio ii and d a string trio directed by mrs airs william am osborne tho the girls trio included the misses lela mendenhall janell warner and olive sellers for the string trio janell wainer played the violin carolyn poulson the cello and mrs airs osborne the piano the richfield first ward was given recognition at the 11 1 I A session is as the winners of the district at men basketball championship and also as the only ward in the stake that has gone over its quota in the improvement era subscription drive mr air and mrs airs reed poulson are ward era directors miss aliss hope hansen and douglas buchanan era and publicity directors of the stake board made the announcements |
