Show howd family reunion breuni on held at fish lake fish lake was the scene of the annual family reunion of the descendants ants of simon fuller and lucinda morgan howd pioneers pion eera of 1847 A three days celebration lasting from friday to sunday was observed by more than descendants ants comprising the murdock parkinson hyatt and howd families of beaver the hawley and grenwood families of richfield and central the veater family of panguitch the russel family of loa and the johnson family of joseph A program saturday morning featuring the history of the family revealed the fact that there are more than living descendants ts of simeon howd A urvey survey s of occupations disclosed that not one member of the fam ily is on relief that there are none in prison and no feeble minded levi howd president of the family organization was in charge the principal speakers were howd veater of arrey new mexico and hartley greenwood of central A short sketch of each family was given 0 ven by members musical numbers and readings completed the program during the afternoon competitive sports fishing and boating boat were enjoyed and a dance at the tavern saturday night ended the days activities sunday was spent visiting the present officers were sustained for another year with levi howd beaver president W S greenwood richfield vice president mrs lucy osborne miners ville secretary treasurer and a representative to be appointed from each family to form the executive committee the two living daughters of simeon howd were present mrs elvira murdock 88 of Miners Miner cUle and mrs frances hawley 74 of richfield simeon howd was born bom may 18 1813 at camden new york he married lucinda morgan at council bluffs iowa may 16 1847 and they crossed the plains in brigham youngs company arriving in salt lake july 24 1847 he was later called to settle in paro wan and beaver and was one of the earliest leaders in the pioneer movement in that part of southern utah he was the faher of eight children 7 daughters and one son |
