sessions after approving all of bloods nominees for state commissions and departments the battle over appointments centering in the progressive con trilled trolled house was a major factor in in prolonging the session nearly three days beyond its scheduled closing time closing ceremonies were brief as legislators hurried to complete formalities at 1050 sunday night a house committee waited anthe on the senate to inform that body that the lower chamber had completed all necessary business and was ready to go home senators concurred and adjournment motions were made almost simultaneously in both houses legislators showed a propensity for investigations closing the session with approval of a f ive five man committee to investigate alleged unethical practices in the ses sion and empowered to investigate any state department or officer still breathing heavily as a result sult of the joint legislative committees mit tees report last week which shook the then state liquor and public service commissions completely out of office statehouse employees began to be wary of conversation again the report an outstanding highlight of the session charged public service commissioners with incompetency liquor commissioners with failure to comply with legal requirements failure to enforce the law and hinted at open graft other state departments came in for milder roasting beer came in for heated discussion in the last few days of the sessions as senators amended a house bill in order to deprive the state liquor commission of all power to control licensing and revoking of licenses As the bill was passed local governments will be in complete control of beer sales with no limit set for licensing fees victory for the local option forces was credited as victory victory for the state municipal league leader in the fight for home control the largest general fund appropriation in history providing for support and maintenance of state departments and institutions for the
