| Show blochl FOR HELD IN G R buchanan announces showing of new model here nov 14 G R buchanan local ford dealer and manager of the buchanan motor company returned home monday evening after having in I 1 attended the dealers preview pre view of the new 1937 fords held in detroit with 93 other dealers sir mr buhanan buchanan C left salt lake november 4 by special train for detroit the group arrived in detroit november 6 with other ford dealers numbering in all from all parts of the united states and canada they witnessed one of the greatest showings of an automobile ever attempted by any automobile manufacturer fac the large coliseum in detroit was used and was filled to capacity by the large crowd assembled sem bled A pageant introducing the new automobile was there presented and the new models for the coming year shown never before in the history of the automobile industry had such a large group of dealers been present at an opening never before had a manufacturer attempted to bring together such a group from great dist distances andes to show them new cars mr air buchanan stated and added that the car itself is new and diffee mt and will be on show to the public saturday november 14 at the buchanan motor corn com pany in richfield there were some amazing features connected with the preview pre view the 53 special trains that brought the dealers to detroit arriving within two hours of each other were said by trainmen to be the largest group of special trains handled for one destination at one time A luncheon was served which also established a never before at least as far as general information goes had as large a crowd been served at one time in one building the luncheon was served in a room which I 1 mr Buc buchanan banan describes as about two bocks long with tables extending the full length of the building the ford motor company could not get a company in detroit to assume the responsibility for serving the large group and a chicago firm contracted conti acted for the task some idea of it might be gleaned from the statement that 36 truck loads of dishes 5 truck loads of silverware chickens and various other large amounts of food supplies were used in preparation of the luncheon other features of the preview pre view weer a tour of the ford and lincoln plants and a trip to greenfield village on the ford estate where the dealers presented the noted manufacturer henry ford the old cape cod windmill years old as an addition to his old fashioned village the return trip from detroit to salt lake was made in 36 hours bord was sent back through the train several times limes from the engine cab we are arc doing I 1 in n excess nf f miles an hour showing n gain again an advance in transportation |
