Show ROM FIVE COUNTIES HEHE FOB C miss supervises work for state department part ment A picture that was at once depressing and en encouraging coura in was apparent to anyone who visited the crippled childrens clinic held here tuesday and wednesday at the masonic temple depressing because it is never pleasant to look upon human afflictions encouraging because a program was in or der to diagnosis and correct those afflictions as far as possible the clinical program directed by th the c state board of health in cooperation 0 pe ration with the federal and state crippled children program was being held here for the counties of millard M illard piute diute wayne and sevier cases coming bedoe the clinic totaled 72 which included 18 from millard 3 from piute diute 19 from sanpete San pete 27 from sevier and five from wayne the types of deformities examined at the clinic were as follows 8 club foot 4 unclassified paralysis 2 cleft palate 1 tuberculosis of the bone 2 dislocated hip 1 spastic paralysis 4 3 congenital malformation of member 8 4 fracture 2 amu 2 progressive gres sive muscular atrophy 1 bum contract 1 torti colis 1 rickets 2 obstetrical paralysis 4 progressive gres sive muscular dystrophy 4 1 bone tumor 1 unclassified 15 16 recommendations for care and treatment of these cases were made by the examining physician dr S C baldwin orthopedic thop edic specialist from salt sal t lake miss marcella mcinnerny state director of the crippled chi children adren services was in charge of the clinic and was vas assisted by local nurses mrs hazel stevens nutritionist also was here to consult and assist mothers in solving their specific food problems and when special PC cial recommendations concerning diet were made by the attending physician gave aid by consultation sul tation and bulletins given the mothers during the clinic there were displayed in the masonic Alason le temple educational cat ional posters concerning I 1 crippled children the utah crippled service is open to all crippled children in the state but all cases are referred to the local county welfare boards who conduct investigations to determine the financial status of each individual family applying for care and treatment for their children |
