Show city mechanic reports condition of water system in hi his i annual report to the richfield Richlie ld city council ellis ellia V christensen Christens cn city mechanic made the following statement relative to the condition of the city water system 1 I believe that the condition of the water system generally is better than it has been for some time past because of the now new additions and replacements made this year the weakest portion of the system has been replaced with cast iron pipe and the lowest pressure lines have been boosted considerably sider ably by the additions made however we must not lose sight of the fact that the system is becoming steadily older and each year will probably find sections needing replacement some of those may be gradual while others may call for such extensive repairing that replacement will be the most economical in the long run As new users are connected on some of the smaller lines it will be necessary to add larger mains but the amount of these improvements can only be determined as need arises delinquent accounts for the waterworks water works department are considerably sider ably below the figure of the past few years the report disclosed in june an FERA project was undertaken for the replacement of 7 blocks of water main and the installation of two additional blocks in the east part of the city the total cost being sufficient pipe was salvaged to more than offset all labor paid for by the city on the project mr christensen also al gave reports on sewer lines linen which have been made projects and are arc in process of construction |
