Show LOCAL STU Y CLUB ART LESSON OF SPECIAL HES T pictures now on display at office of telluride power co modem art and eminent sevier county artists furnished the study subject for both sessions of the richfield study club thursday afternoon it was one of the most interesting lessons of the club year and was illustrated by a collection of pictures from artists discussed for section one mrs henry E beal presented the subject of sevier county artists and for section two miss louise dastrup called attention to their work among the most prominent artists who are n natives of sevier county or who have lived here at some time but are not now in the county are cornelius salisbury B F larson leconte stewart thorlief Tb orlief knaphus john hafen and B Y andelin while others mentioned not so well known but now active in art were salisbury andelin paul salisbury marius salisbury louise and thelma thclma dastrup most of whom had the club to display pictures the lie pictures on exhibit at the club club meeting have been placed in the windows at the telluride power company where the public may view them this week A life sketch of vincent van gough with brief discussions of contemporary artists was given give n for both sections of the club mrs prank frank pace presenting the lesson for section one and mrs L R fournier for section two the beginning of modern trends in art which started sixty years ago and the different methods used byar avar fists of the school of so called impressionists was discussed and il ft lust rations typical of the schools were exhibited that the material collected was of unusual merit was evidenced by the fact that while hunting for material on the subject while in the library in catl lake recently the librarian was enthusiastic in her praise of the collection of pictures and information compiled by mrs pace stating that it was more complete than an any Y material assembled on modern art at the library and asking if she might use it for reference mrs pace has consented to give her portfolio to the library in salt lake the course is based around R H wil anskis simplified guide to the modern movement for the uninitiated members of the study club spent monday at springville Spring ville visiting vi ait the art exhibit those enjoying the trip were mrs L A poulson mrs howard A mrs H E beal mrs L R fournier mrs airs H A dewey mrs M L done mrs E L cox mrs frank pace mrs ray E carr mrs V A malmsten and mrs A J ashman |
