Show PROGRAM BY SPORTSMEN IN SESSION SUNDAY express appreciation 0 f cooperation given by farmers A six point program was adopted by the sevier county fish and game protective association at a meeting held here sunday at the national guard armory frank X carron president of the association presided at the session besides the program ram adopted which dealt primarily with pheasants matters pertaining to removal of elk from the browns hole area near salina canyon and an investigation and educational campaign to show the habits advantages and disadvantages of having pheasants in farming areas the association adopted a resolution expressing appreciation of the members for the attitude of the majority of farmers in connection with the raising and hunting of the pheasants after having discussed the problems with numerous sportsmen sport of the county major J IT deweese presented the six point program to the meeting for adoption each point was discussed separately they are as follows 1 that all state game wardens be rotated in assignments to territories ri at frequent intervals 2 that a committee of three be selected to investigate appraise and recommend adjustment in the case of any and all damage done by pheasants to farmers of sevier county 3 that a committee of three be selected to investigate and assist s alst in the prosecution where deemed necessary of all persons causing any damage to farmers during the hunting season 4 that three members be selected to act as a committee on law enforcement for the sevier county fish and game protective association and that they be authorized to transact all busi ness pertaining thereto with the state fish and game commission 5 that a committee of three be selected to choose an area which be designated as a game sanctuary by the state fish and game 9 ame commissioner on which the mutant pheasants raised by the association may be liberated 6 that all sportsmen excepting farmers of the county be requested to contribute to a fund to be used by this association to further supplement the number of mutant pheasants or any other variety of upland ganie game suitable for this locality in presenting the program major deweese said that it had been drawn up with two things in mind the improvement of hunting in the sevier valley and the protection of the farmers against damage by both birds and hunters |
