Show TRI CLUB M LIONS LIED FOR RICHFIELD will elect associated civics club delegates and discuss projects much good is expected to come of a tri club lions meeting which was called wednesday by president howard A Christ lansen for next wednesday night in the bohn ston stoa hotel the monroe and salina lions are invited to attend atten attending din in full force while the primary object of the meeting is to elect now new directors for sevier county to the associated civic clubs of southern utah many other matters are expected to be discussed including the pos ties of securing the plants for processing alunite located ir in I 1 sevier sevier county has been represented during the past year by C A white of monroe and the late harry M frank G martines also has represented sevier county as president of the organization with the many problems of vital interest to this county being handled by the associated civic clubs such as the development of the alunite deposits having wayne wonderland designated a national park road improvement work band and others it is important that the new men be selected with care it is important that they have the interests of the county and adjoining territory at heart and be willing and able to attend the meetings of the association reg regularly although mr Christian sens an the meeting does not mention other details there will probably be a special program of entertainment and music the richfield president will be in charge of the meeting recently the presidents of the richfield lUch field and salina lions clubs the mayors of the two towns and 0 R and frank G martines artines in response to a request for information relative to the resources available in sevier county for the processing of alunite forwarded to interested parties in salt lake city a letter indicating that sevier county is the proper place for the location of the plants they pointed out that being on the sevier river and railroad and having an abundance of coal in salina canyon that no better situated spot could be found mr has received a reply to this letter and it seems the parties are highly pleased considering what the establishment of this industry in sevier county would mean to us the lions will probably want to get behind it and encourage the manufacturers in every way possible another worthy project for the sevier county lions would be to urge and assist the state fish and game department to construct a fish hatchery at loa it is understood der stood that the department has already acquired the land near loa on the fremont river but does not have the funds with which to build the hatchery and make the other improvements necessary commissioner newell B cook on a recent visit to richfield said that if they could devise some means of building the hatchery the department could finance the operation of it should the plan materialize the fish produced would be used almost entirely for stocking fish lake and other waters of this vicinity and would in that case be of unlimited value to the territory it has long been contended by local sportsmen that too great a percentage of the fish hatched from the eggs taken from fish lake are planted in other parts of the state this might be a remedy for that tabi condition |
