| Show CROWD AT MONROE LAMB FEEDERS governor and mrs airs dern among the guests of honor governor geo H dern together with other dignitaries paid his first official visit to monroe and addressed the crowds congregated for the annual lamb feeders day activities held friday congratulating the monroe iamb feeders association on t their heir celebration and on introducing the lamb iamb feeding industry in the county the entertainment staged this year axce excelled aled even the splendid activities of previous celebrations demonstrative of the hospitality of monroe 1200 people were served an appetizing roast lamb iamb luncheon during the noon hour for the occasion the streets were in gala attire and everyone elyone entered into the spirit of the day included in the crowds which visited the feed yards at alma Magle bys ranch at 9 in the morning were a delegation of boys from the agriculture departments of the monroe and richfield high schools and in addition to the lamb iamb feeders of monroe a number of men from salt like lake who are interested in the industry the crowd moved from the feed yards to main alain street and were joined by the school children in welcoming governor dern who addressed the school children briefly terrys band participated in the activities here and at the program in the afternoon which immediately followed the luncheon A W magleby chairman of the committee in charge of arrangements presided at the afternoon meeting which was held at the high school among those to address the assemblage were james H hooper secretary of the utah state wool grow eis association dean K C ikeler of the utah state agricultural col ige I ge mr merrill of merrill keyser of feeds governor D T oin agricultural superintendent erin of el the D R G western railroad lail road rod and lamont tooler who will have chaice of the c pediment peri ment station this year J H manderfield of the union stockyards stock yards of salt lake city was among the officials in attendance professor H H smith of the utah state agricultural college gave a demonstration of iamb cutting and two splendid legs of lamb iamb which fell from his carving knife were presented to governor dern and mr sharp of the deseret national bank the program was enlivened by a clever clog dance by misses eleanore EI eanore bell and donna zabriskie selections by the monroe high school girls quartet and a saxophone solo by wesley pierce instructor of music at the monroe high school A football game between the monroe high school and wasatch academy ending in a score of 27 0 in favor of monroe al onroe was held on the high school cain campus pus and the day was crowned with a lamb iamb feeders dance in the evening in which a mammoth crowd participated after the football game governor and mrs dern accompanied by county agent S R boswell alma magle by and lamont lament bueler again went to the experiment station where the governor and mrs dern dem expressed cicat interest in the explanation of every detail of the experiments being conducted wednesday night a meeting of the lamb feeders association was called for the purpose of selecting a committee to set the ball rolling in in preparation pa ration for next years iamb feeders lay day |
