to prevent these changes the he people of central held a mass eting to ascertain cr or not a postoffice post office in their town would be more desirable than tile the rural mail route as it now is and as a result a decision was reached that the rural system would meet the needs of the people more completely and that they were in favor of the present route continuing in the meantime the lions liona club representatives visited the laim faini ers throughout the other sections of the tha district and have a petition signed by them TO continue the rural delivery as it now is these petitions have been forwarded to the postoffice post office department part ment at washington asking tha no changes be made as the rural system in this sections is satisfactory as it now is the proposition on the part of the postoffice post office department was to cut off the citizens from the rural dc delivery livery south and west of monroe to run a rural route from elsinore to tile the outlying on main street was called wednesday evening by mayor glen win act for the ati purpose pose of discussing improving the main main street of our city an assessment had been considered by the city council as a means to get funds to put the road in good condition A large share 0 athe expenses wil it be furnished by the city but those property adjacent to main blain street would be assessed according to value and amount of property it A good grading and oiling seemed preferable to most owners although paving was suggested for at least parr barc of the street however as the whole v liole street is badly in need of improvement pro the paving su was out nut do down xii it was vas decided that within thirty days tearing up and graveling of tile the road would be started and V t at next
