| Show NAT WILL BE THE LEON CHOP of 2 9 U S department of agriculture issues an interesting review reports from farmers throughout the united states indicate their intentions tent ions as is for starch 1 1926 in regard to the acreage ill in leading crops which they intend to plant in the season just opening they the expect to reduce the acreage of spring wheat in the united states st ates to per cent of what was har ested in I 1 1925 forthe group of 11 western states the intended acreage in this th crop is per cent of last year vear but in utah it is per cent and in nevada possibly per cent thus showing intended increases of 8 and 30 per cent respectively in spite of the short crop last year the potato growers expect to increase the total acreage acrea 11 e of the united states to only 1043 3 per cent of what was harvested last year the short crop last year was due not to relatively small acreage but to exceptionally poor yields in most of the country however in the west it is intended to increase the potato acreage L to 10 in utah the intended acreage is 12 per cent of 1925 in idaho and in colorado ill and in nevada per ler cent hay acreage in utah and nevada is expected to be increased again by a few per cent over the prece proceeding eding year the relatively large surplus of hay hav on farms in these states now is due not to an excessive acreage but to an unusually favorable season for hay during 1925 in utah there are expected to he be increases ceases this year car over last in the acreage nc aage of oats barley and corn while i in n nevada the returns at hand indicate more oats but about the same corn and slightly less barley |
