Show GOOD BY BUY U T district educational department plans ex E activities the ie richfield district committee of the boy scouts of america held a meeting in the commercial club rooms saturday evening to henr hear reports by the several subcommittees land plan ac activities for the balance of band he current year vice chairman horace ora ce gunn presided and with sc scout u t executive wm B D hawkins the following committee members were present A J ashman W L warner abe hansen and george H ogden the meeting was thrown open for the regular business and the following reports were made mr hansen reported the successful hike put over by the scouts of the second ward there were no accidents no sickness the camp was of the finest type and the boys were under competent leadership mr warner reported the financial drive to be successful so tar far in the bank at present more raised to be put in very soon the remaining portion of the quota being raised at the present time he also presented a motion that the drive be extended to haise halse funds to carry over until november of next year instead of july as formerly decided this motion carried with a full vote the educational department represented by mr ashman reported no action as yet but plans were discussed by which a very effective program may be put over for instance wood cutting parties on the old folks by bv scouts thanksgiving baskets to be distributed by scouts camp fire pow wow on the public square featuring scouting stunts and demonstrations st a scout edition of the local newspaper the speakers bureau possibly a scouting sunday to I 1 arouse public spirit to demand scout masters for every ward to give leadership to every boy some of the above mentioned plans to be developed in the near future the court of honor department was not present but activity on their part was reported A motion carried with a hearty vote of thanks accepting the courtesy of dr markus and the richfield reaper in the form of the Standard requirements booklet for the court of honor and extending the high appreciation of this district tor for the splendid gift to the council executive hawkins reported his recent trip to the estes park conference of scout executives near denver colorado that over executives were in attendance from all over the united states and that some of the finest leaders in the world were there to supervise the remarkable program that was carried on during the 10 days of the conference the type of national leaders that have been attracted to this program of scouting should spell something of its greatness the motion then carried for adjournment journ ment until further call of the chairman |
