Show CITIZENS OF kuppr ILLE ONE I 1 L ORE T EACH be M I 1 lad object sti to transporting their Gran linar graders to kooz ancill after the board of education had come to an agreement with the citizens of koosharem Kooi Koo barem sharem in the meeting of august 25 it had to listen in the meeting of last saturday to grievances brought before the board by a delegation of residents of burrville Burr ville there are less than thirty pupils in burrville Burr ville and only a few of them thein being grammar graders the board had decided to engage a teacher for the primary grades only and to provide provida good transportation for pupils above the fourth grade to take them to school to koosharem Koo sharem this arrangement ran gement did not meet with the favor or of the residents of burrville Burr ville and they sent a delegation consisting of vern fairbanks john fillmore edward burr wilford burr and C E burr to the board with a petition that two teachers be provided for the burrville Burr ville school in regard to this matter after a careful consideration and thorough going over the subject with the delegates the following minute entry was made in the records of the board and transmitted to the citizens of burrville Burr ville that by reason of the residents of burrville Burr ville precinct through their committee having rejected the proffer and determination of the board of education of the sevier school district to provide one teacher at burr lille i me for the lower grades and to transport daily at the expense 0 of said district all pupils of said precinct above the fourth grade to koosharem Koo sharem where they could have the advantages of attending a graded school and stated through said committee that they refused to permit their said children to be so transported although the board had determined that such transportation w would be to the educational benefit of such pupils that one teacher only be provided for the burrville Burr ville school for and during the coming school year since in the opinion of the board it is not warranted in incurring the expense of employing two teachers to instruct the less legs than thirty pupils of said precinct in view of the fact that the education results obtainable from two teachers instructing ting the eight grades under such conditions though admittedly better than one would be so unsatisfactory and discriminating as to not warrant or justify the expense ot employing the second teacher however since the said committee has expressed to the board a desire on oil the part of the residents of burrville Burr ville precinct to provide means through voluntary contribution on their part to pay the salary of a second teacher for said school that in the event that they determine to voluntarily contribute to a fund to pay such salary that if they thereby raise five hundred dollars and pay the same over in advance to the said board of education that it will procure and a second qualified teacher for said burrville Burr ville school for f 0 r the school c hool year vear and will bear all further aurther expenses incident to conducting a second department in said school |
