| Show WHAT iff THE SCHOOL A 0 ma mEMBERS HAUE TO SAY outgoing members talk interestingly about experiences and anten tiong i president N J bates of the board of 0 education and members J L staples and dr al A freece are the three present incumbents of the school board whose terms expire on ona december 31 and who wont serve any more in the next four years we took occasion to interview them about their experiences and theli freely answered our questions president bates who was a candidate in the election held wednesday and andi came out second to judge hayes who was elected in his stead was short in in his his statement but what he said Is only apt to increase the respect we always had for him lie he stated sim ply that he in leaving the board wishes to express his sincere appreciation pre clation for the support he received from the general public and from his fellow members on the board and continued 1 I also wish to say that I 1 am highly pleased with the choice the people made in sending mr hayes to the board as my successor mr air hayes is a school man of a great deal of experience of best beat intentions and the ability to live up to them and a man who will be a credit to our board of education in every respect J L staples of elsinore EIs lnore was not running for reelection election re he adhered to the gent lemans agreement that the towns of elsinore and joseph will send a man to the board alternately it was josephs turn at this election and mr staples was not a candidate interviewed about his experiences he be stated that he be enjoyed his work in the interest of our schools immensely and always did for our educational institutions what he thought was best he also added that lie he never worked in any capacity with a set of workers coworkers co with whom it was so easy to cooperate and who whenever he had to ask something tor for his district always met him half way and complied compiled with his requests to the best of their ability mr staples was a member of the board for four years dr margaret A freece is in point of service the oldest member of the board having served for thirteen years she already was a member of the salina school trustees before the consolidation of the district in 1911 the people and tile the schools are greatly indebted to her for efficient service did I 1 enjoy it sher she said would I 1 ll 11 have ve remained a member it if I 1 had not enjoyed it I 1 also want to express at this occa occasion I 1 my appreciation to the other members of the board for their cooperr opera co tion and consideration the northern part of the district always received while the present board dl di erected tho the school affairs its full share and more of what could be expected and I 1 can truth truthfully tully say that the present board was always fair end and square to our part or of the dis erict the incoming members also made statements for the reaper but on account of lack of space we cannot publish them this week and will present them to our readers 1 in our next issue |
