Show RITES FOR MELVIN N ROSS HELD MONDAY I 1 impi estivo funeral services were held monday in second ward chapel in our last issue we announced the illness of melvin ross while on a visit to delta his wife and fam ily ly took him to the 1 I D S hospital in salt lake city where he be suddenly passed away thursday december 7 the body was brought home on saturday A large crowd of friends visited the home to view the remains of deceased and express their deep sympathy with the bereaved widow and family melvin INI elvin nephi ross was born at provo in 1852 he was the son of melvin and rebecca ross he married in 1879 mary blary jane abraham and was the father of seven daughters and two sons viz martha R ross millie jane ross genevia ross wilkinson berdein ross Ch chloetine Chlo loerine enne ross clevia ross retta ross calhoun james ross and abraham ross roas there are also sixteen grandchildren living funeral services were held at 2 p m monday the alth dinst in the second ward meeting house with his sorrowing widow and all surviving children present together with a very large number of relatives and friends there was a profusion of lovely flowers the service was wad most impressive on the stand were pres R D young bishop bishop virginius dean bean counselor C W cole john W ross and L P peterson counselor cole took charge of the services which commenced with a quartet 0 O my illy father by mesdames INTes dames R G dark clark hattie bean and I 1 jonathan lloyd and ernest hancock prayer by L P peterson quartet trust and never be dismayed the first speaker was john W ross who told of a lifetime acquaintance with the deceased whom he had always found honest straightforward and liberal bishop V bean was the nest speaker endorsing what the former speaker had said by special request of the family the song borne on the wings oi of snow was beautifully rendered by mrs J M peterson president R D young of sevier stake expressed himself in most comforting words to the bereaved family and also told of the great sufferings of the former latter day saints admonished all to resist evil spoke of the large heartedness of deceased and said it if we look for faults in others well find some but if we seek out the good well be able to gather baskets ful bishop W A then spoke of the generous heartedness of deceased a and fin d h his i s s sorrowing 0 r r 0 w in g A widow v 1 d 0 w if 1 f a all I 1 I 1 the t h e flowers 0 w e r s g given i e n b by y t them 1 i e m d during u r i g their residence in richfield Richtie ld could be placed in tile the meeting house he believed the place would be full to overflowing he spoke of the respect shown by all and concluded by reading some comforting words from the scriptures A duet sometime somewhere Some by mesdames dark clark and bean and the benediction by counselor C W cole concluded the services |
